On another note, actual spoken English has little to do with good commentary (though some command is necessary, trying to listen to Jaysuriaya is pure torture), or else the worst commentators would be Saffers, Keplar's grammatical english is so crude and heavily accented, but always fun to listen to him as his plenty of things from his past or experiences. As for Shiva, he can improve so much if he shared his experiences from the domestic games he covers, surely he must have witnessed several amusing incident. Bottom line alot of the current commentators including from other countries lack creativity. Maybe TV companies should go the way of US Sports to have one ex-player alongside one competent creative entertaining commentator (can be journo, pundit, anyone with an interest in cricket). Though we could end up with Harsha Mark II. :((

Good that you took it the right way. It was a joke, and I don't mean any disrespect. I generally like reading your posts. But what you should realize, is that when you call Siva a ''quota commentator'' , you are using the word "quota" in a derogatory way. Like its something to be shunned about. As if he doesn't deserve a place there. Being a part of a quota is dependent only on where you are born. Some are born smart, beautiful, rich and cultured (me :D) and some not so. It would be wrong to poke (pun intended) fun at someone at being born into a certain community.

TBH, I didn't find anything offensive in KT's rant from regionalism perspective. (Disclaimer - I am not a Tamilian). How come calling him an Oily Rat is insulting to Tamilians? Seriously I don't get it. It is as good as if calling Yuvraj fat is insulting to Punjabi's. KT has never used word Tamilians in his rant and people picked up cudgels to fight with him over it. I think it's only when Yoda brought Tamil thing in discussion, I realized that it has something to do with Tamilians (what something I am still searching for). Is it telling that Shiva doesn't speak good english what Tamilians found offensive?

I should have posted that:--D I mean by me calling siva an oily rat does not mean I am calling tamils an oily rat. By me saying he cant speak english peoperly and should go to tamil comm channel, does not mean I am saying all tamils can't speak english properly and should all commentate on tamil channels. I know the worst host has to be that guy on NEO Sports, Ramakrishna guy. Damn, he bloody struggles to complete one sentence and is hellbent upon putting up a bloody fake accent ! He is so friggin irritating ! Harsha Bhogle is the most irritating commentator ever though. He is so stuck up on himself.
