zen Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Which is the best no fee rewards credit card in Canada? I have the AMEX Gold rewards but $150 annual fee is something I don't want to pay so plan to cancel it soon. Amex Gold card is also good for the comprehensive insurance it offers but I recently found out that my medical plan offers those out of province insurance too. I tend to transfer my points to aeroplan as you can do a 1:1 transfer from gold rewards to aeroplan. Other card that I like and have is the MBNA world points. It is suppose to be similar to the Gold card but has no annual fee. I haven't redeemed points on this yet .... If I cancel the amex gold, this one may become my main card but was wondering if there are better options I tend to put around $40,000 per year on cards (spread over different cards), and now want to consolidate to maximize the rewards earning potential. I don't keep a balance and pay the cards in full each month so interest rate is not a concern and I like the Amex charge cards. Plus I have a line of credit at lower rate which can pay off the cards if, God forbid, I am unable to make the full payments After looking around here and there, I keep falling back to the amex aeroplan express ($60 annual fee). Other aeroplan cards (CIBC infinite and Amex aeroplan gold) start from $120 annual fee but have good welcome bonuses and offer coverages like auto rental insurance. The card I really like is the Amex Aeroplan Platinimum but that's out of reach at $500 annual fee per year. Is there a way to get these annual fees waived off? has anyone been successful in getting these annual fees waived off?

zen Posted November 9, 2011 Author Posted November 9, 2011 RBC or Scotia - depending on your Credit History..1,2 3% cash back or you want like rewards points? Under Score would know some as well I looked at the RBC site, the 2% cb is on grocery purchases, while the rest is 'up to 1%' .... Not as good as the MBNA world points which has the option of 1% CB and redeeming points for rewards .... and MBNA is also platinuim plus so auto rental coverage, etc The RBC Avion looks good but has $120 annual fee Out-of-Country/Province Emergency Medical Insurance . (15 days up to age 64, 3 days age 65 and over) Trip Interruption Insurance . Flight Delay Insurance . Hotel/Motel Burglary Insurance . Emergency Purchases Insurance . Auto Rental Collision/Loss Damage Insurance . Travel Accident Insurance. Purchase Security and Extended Warranty Protection . Chip and PIN technology for enhanced security. Zero Liability eliminates your liability for fraudulent card transactions, provided you protect your PIN and card, as set out in your RBC Royal Bank Credit Card Agreement. 24 hour card cancellation/replacement. Emergency card replacement, cash service, airline tickets. Medical referral assistance. RBC Royal Bank InfoProtectorŽÂ® Card Registration. RBC also has a westjet card, good for those flying westjet .... If those based in Vancouver, the Alaskan Airline card lfrom MBNA ooks like a good deal for a reasonable annual fee (for an airline ff program card)
