StatsRock Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 You're talking about the selection in 1988 for the series vs NZ and then WI, right? If you are, then he deserved to be dropped. He failed vs the WI in 87 and in the previous series against Pakistan. He didn't do well vs Australia in 1986 either and that included a painful crawl in Mumbai where he looked a shadow of the player that he was. It was Vensarkar who was India's best player at that time. Amarnath made the 'bunch of jokers' comment after being dropped for the NZ series. Prior to the series he had scored 149* in the Duleep Trophy semifinal. The final was rained off. He didnt do that badly in the Windies series: 43 at Calcutta(test), match winning 70 in the only ODI we won against WI(Man of the match I think) and 71 vs WI for North Zone. He was probably the top run scorer in the ODI series. He had another 100 and a fifty in the Mar 88 Sharjah Cup. The tipping point was his heroic innings in the Asia Cup semifinal against Pakistan on a minefield of a pitch where he scored 74* to take the team to victory. We had been wrecked by Qadir and Akram(116/6) when he rallied the tail to take them to 143. This happened 10 days before the NZ series. Definitely he didnt deserve a sacking a week later.
anish233 Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 if they pick bhajji for his fighting skills then i want sreesanth back :protest: or Great Khali.
StatsRock Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 ^ Did Sachin replaced him? :hmm: Nope. Sidhu did for NZ-Ind 1988
Chaos Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 lol he cant even take wickets in ranji. Well dartbaijan, our local team is looking for a good darter who can spin the balls once in a while. But i dunno if they will even give u a spot...
Sachinism Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Harbhajan 'rested' for the game against Railways. Bad times for Bhaji
BERGKAMP Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 oh dear, but i guess you can't say it is anything other than the right decision based on merit and current form.
Karan114 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Whether injured or "rested", no great loss to Punjab considering his form this season
BERGKAMP Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Supposedly an injury on the shinbone it is the dignified way to drop him.
pensionplan Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Did someone bang him with a rod on that shinbone for being a jerk?
StatsRock Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 That's a nice tactical move to chicken out against a strong opponent. Railways finished 2nd in their group last year, beat Delhi outright, almost beat Mumbai and lost in the quarterfinals. Darty would be flogged if he makes the line up.
BeautifulGame Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Not wanting to make conspiracy theories but Harbajan waited till the squad for Aus tour was announced and next day he is down with injury and cant play Ranji match :headshake:
King Tendulkar Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 When it comes to Bhaji suddenly fans turn it to pakis with all kinds of weird internet conspiracy theories:hysterical:
