What about prior to that ? He is certainly a better keeper than what you rate him.
Aur kitna peeche jaana hai? He did well in South Africa, but poorly in New Zealand. So, out of our last 4 away tours he has performed poorly in 3, aur jaan chahiye bacche ki? Koi baat nahin woh bhi 0-4 mein aa gayi thi, when the entire myth about Dhoni being some super kaptaan was brought crashing down to earth.

I am sure this WK-Batsman situation after Dhoni will go back to 90s when we had Keeper like Mongia who used to score 1 test fifty per year. Or 2000-2005 where we tried every tom , dick and harry for 5 years and none of them proved to be as good as mighty Mongia.

I would happily take that one fifty per year if it's an innings like Mongia played at Chennai or Kotla rather than the meaningless dross that FTB Ultra keeps on making in the name of test match batting.

All I can suggest is to watch the highlights again and you will again see instances of the ball falling short of the slip cordon because Kaptaan Kool chose his beauty spot.

Dhoni was very good in New zea land unless u are one eyed. Ya Dhoni never played an innings like Mongia's chennai match where he threw his wicket and lost us the game despite Sachin at the other end telling him to not play that exact shot. I would rather have a keeper who saves tests with his batting in tough away conditions like Dhoni did in Lord's or plenty other times rather than one who bottled out in one of the few decent innings in his entire career.

That would be Tendulkar who bottled out - Mongia did much more than anyone could have expected from a keeper coming in at 80/5 against Akram, Waqar, Saqlain on a Chennai pitch doing reverse swing and spin.

Dont remember any major blunders from him during that series which was like OMG he fecked up the match for us.I have said earlier this standing too far back has been happening just lately may be due to his finger injuries but it wasnt the case in NZ.

No' date=' let's blame the keeper and Joshi for not scoring enough when the team was 80/5! :hysterical:[/quote'] Nope let's take the easy way out and blame the top scorer of the innings, and let's not say anything to the folks who couldn't score an additional 10 odd runs to win the game knowing fully well Tendulkar was at the other end and was fighting a bad back.

Did u even watch that match. He was suffering from all sorts of injuries and it was either hit out or retire hurt.If Mongia who was batting without any huge trouble didnt go for an unneccesary pull shot which didnt play before in that match we would have won. Why does it matter it reverse swung or spin when Mongia was able to handle them both till he played a retarded pull shot? Are u saying he played he played that pull shot becaue Saqulain was turning the ball square? Its Mongia who bottled out playing a shot when there was no necessary for that.Thats what u called bottling out.Not like the shot which Sachin played which was the only option for him.

I am pretty sure Mongia fixed it. :hysterical:

Tendulkar trying to slog Pakistan's best bowler in the match was not retarded, but the keeper trying to get a few quick runs against the new ball was retarded?:hysterical:

Dhoni ke thread mein pehle Saha aaya, fir Mongia aaya aur ab baat Sachin par ja pahunchi.. Kya baat hai
Yeh sab lane wala ek hi banda hai.

Abhi to Ratra, Dahiya, Kirmani, Engineer, Karthik etc. bhi aane waale hain to prove how cr@p Dhoni is and how great our wks were before Dhoni :giggle:

So, why didn't Goddy "stick around" and went for a slog against the best bowler of the day? Desperate Goddy fans expecting more out of Joshi and Mongia than Goddy?
