The right-arm medium pacer was informed a day before the match that he will have to make way for Avishkar Salvi by captain Wasim Jaffeer, coach Sulakshan Kulkarni and selector Ravi Thakkar.

Zaheer slams Mumbai coach, selector for dropping Agarkar

Mumbai: India pace ace Zaheer Khan has come to the defence of Mumbai teammate Ajit Agarkar, who left the team in Cuttack after he was not in captain Wasim Jaffer and coach Sulakshan Kulkarni's playing XI plans. Zaheer, who is using the Ranji Trophy to get back into rhythm after an injury lay-off, is part of the playing XI against Orissa in Cuttack. He came out blazing against chairman of selectors Milind Rege and coach Kulkarni, who was appointed only recently. "I am not the kind of person to say all this, but I just feel that people like Rege and Sulakshan are actually pulling Mumbai cricket back," Zaheer told MiD DAY over the phone from Cuttack at the end of Day One of the four-day tie. "This is an utter disgrace. I am very disappointed and hurt by the way the whole situation has been handled. It is high time things get sorted out. "A player who has done so much for the country and state; has taken over 300 international wickets and has been consistent performer and a certainty in the team at least deserves better communication and respect. There is no reason to humiliate someone who has done great service to your team," said Zaheer.

Looks like this is heading towards a major disaster for Mumbai. The good thing is they are still batting well 411/6 right now.

Quite shameful. Even Zaheer is annoyed with it. On a different note, Mumbai team is turning into the next Delhi Ranji team. Which means, Maharashtra and Vidarbha will benefit like Haryana :woot:

Communication is the common evil in most incidents of this nature. These seniors become very fragile when it comes to showing respect and vip treatment. Even though both sides claim to have done the right thing i'm sure they are equally guilty. The management sometimes does not know how to handle such situations and creates this mess.

Delhi , Mumbai selections and setup is too partisan and looks like good players don't get chance here, Mumbai's bowling lineup is pathetic, they have some talent but those players never get selected, same for Delhi.

Unfortunate decision by the Mumbai team management. They forgot how he bowled his heart out in the Ranji Trophy final couple of years ago and won Mumbai a very tense final. He still has a lot to offer to Mumbai cricket at least. After Zaheer goes away, he would be the bowling spearhead again.
