He was better than Yadav in EPT on much flatter tracks. Even Australia called up Daniel Christian as a back up after Ben Cutting got injured, so not much back up there too. Johnson, Bollinger, Ryan Harris are all out. Cutting is injured and out. They have Cummins who is recovering from injury, Siddle, Pattinson, and Starc, who else.

EPT is a different ball game compared to Tests, especially series like Aus or SA. I have found Umesh to be a very quick learner who has improved every game whereas Aaron still looks like a rookie. Aus can still rely on Bollinger, Nannes, Copeland, Harris etc. who are decent enough backups whereas dropoff we wiil suffer if one of our starters goes down will be steep. I hope Zak remains uninjured as he can tilt the balance in our favor.

I hope Zak remains uninjured as he can tilt the balance in our favor.[/quote'] most of those bowlers are odinary harris is good but he is really not test fit this is not back up .. if u call these guys back up then we can call vk,mithun,pathan, rp back up too trusth is australia tried there luck with very young bowlers like cummings 4 fc games pattionson 20 odd games and it paid off if ur impressed with there attack u should be impressed with ours too after all if u call yadav ,aaron rookies..then australain bowlers are no different in last match yadav only got swing in first spell after that wicket was very easy same was the story in indian innings so u cant really compare them match before that aaron got 2 wickets he will do fine

true and in first innings (even in 2nd to some extend) nz threw wickets away yes those were good out swingers but u could easily leave them alone some one compared him to steyn steyn makes u play ..even if u defend u are in danger of getting an edge. thats why he is best bowler!

Bollinger is not even in their test team plans. He has not been even playing for NSW. Even if Harris is fit, sustaining a 5-day test is a huge ask for him and even if he survives, does not look like playing more than one test in a series. SL and SA series are examples where he could not even complete one test without injury. Nannes is already retired from FC class cricket and Copeland is very ordinary. Regarding Aaron, yes, he looks a bit raw, but If we have 2 good bowlers in Ishant and Yadav, he is a decent support for them. I am sure Ishant and Yadav will leave a lasting impression this time.

PK was a pretty big blow for us as Zak, Ishant and PK would have been perfect - Zak and Ishant attcking whereas Zak could keep on probing. Now Umesh will have to step in and perform. However, if any of Zak, ishant or Umesh gets injured, we don't have replacements who can be effective. Aaron is way too raw and others are not even viable options. Asutralia at least has someone who can step in.

thats why i said england tour was blessing in disguise why do u think hings changed only after that? more over ipl also helps (i hate it)!!! like nechim is completely ignored by selectors but we might see what he is all about in next ipl..i saw aaron first time playing for dehli dare devils bowled gilly :--D

I am very impressed by both Cummins and Pattinson from what I have seen so far. Both can hit 140-145 km/hr at ease and seem to have good control and decent swing. Pattinson was even touching 150 K the other day. Great to see two young quicks performing well :)

You make valid points regarding India's lack of planning, grooming & managing younger players/bowlers and the system we have in place as compared to Australia. But the truth remains we don't have too many decent pacers to rely on if our starters go down. I am not saying that the change will be seamless for Australia or that they will not face any challenges. My point is that take out any current Aussie fast bowler and they can replace him comparatively easily whereas for India if Zak or Ishant goes down the drop-off will be quite steep.

Still playing. Towards the top of the wickets column in first class cricket and played for Australia A in their recent game against New Zealand. I think the selectors are reluctant to go back to him though.

Yeah definitely one to watch. Still very young and as Bradman99 said, probably better than Starc.
