Pattison and Starc have decent pace (averaging 140 and up to 146 kph) and were seaming the ball. Even their off-spinner Lyon was getting turn and bounce, and that too in 1st session of Day 1!!! Looking at them I was wondering why did they persist with Johnson for so long as they did have decent backup. With Harris and Bollinger still recovering from injuries they have decent pace attack and India would do well not to under-estimate Aussie attack.

Due to the moisture even Lyon got the ball to grip the surface and bounce a lot. But they do look better than how the Aussie attack was during the Ashes.

Bollinger has not been chosen for tests for long now because of fitness and wont be selected even against us. Look at the conditions there cloudy, gloomy, moist pitch, some grass, and extra bounce. Most Kiwi batsmen got carried away after playing their warm up game on one of the flattest tracks in Australia and got out all playing expensive shots. Regarding speed, on these speed guns Umesh Yadav will clock 150K easily. Siddle has already clocked 150 here who was struggling to be clocked 145K in SA.
BeautifulGame Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 I thought they bowled poorly.The ball was swinging a lot yet they didnt pitch the ball much.Its all good bowling short of length with good pace but when its seaming u should pitch the ball as much as possible IMO. They were lucky most of Kiwi batsmen threw their wicket away.Apart from Guptill when they pitched the ball up all other wickets were due to poor shot selection.EVen during this 6th wicket partnership they were reluctant to pitch the ball out for some reason.If they had done that NZL would have been bowled up already IMO. They are very young so they will probably learn with experience but cant say they are bowling well particularly when its swing this much. It will be interesting to see how Southee bowls and fairs in this pitch.

Look at the way we played against a quality side like England in England. Then when they came here, they were missing a few key players and hence, we were bashing them. I'm sure everyone realizes that. Also, Aaron and Yadav's biggest challenge lies beyond the Windies that is sans Chanders, Sarwan, Gayle, Bravo, Taylor, Benn, etc.

Also, Aaron and Yadav's biggest challenge lies beyond the Windies that is sans Chanders, Sarwan, Gayle, Bravo, Taylor, Benn, etc. Bhai England were not missing anyone significant except Broad in ODIs in India and regarding WI missing some players, I must clarify that Sarwan, Dwayne Bravo, and Benn were dropped because of their poor performances not because they had any issue with WI board or coach. They do not play Chanderpaul in ODIs now as they do not want make a test ODI. They only lacked Gayle and Taylor. Gayle is good destructive batsman on his day, but that is only in T20s, he lacks that consistency in Test or ODIs and he too cannot win them matches like he did not win any in WC.
Old guy Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 all wickets came of bad balls stac isnt that quick but can ball effort ball whichare around 145 pattison is little quicker ..they didn't bowl enough balls in right areas trust me dont be impressed by swing tell me how many times they made batsman commit to drive and then beat with swing? most wickets were brainfarts :P and yes some good balls but on this pitch i expected them to bowl better and about yadav what makes his performance special is he performed on flat indian tracks.. and some balls are such that they will get any one.. a good ball is good ball to every batsman its not like west indies thre wickets away like new zealand today guptill drives way out side of,macculum cuts straight to point a straight ball ,taylor i cant even describe that inside edge LOL,ryder again like mcculum straight to gully i think idk :P thats how they got out...yadav got his wickets with good balls s with swing or reverse swing one that got samlules and one to barath will get any one

Nerves play a part, they will only get better.

Interesting fact about Starc is he was a wicketkeeper up until 15. So after just 6 years of bowling he now plays for his country. Pretty crazy stuff. Think about how much he could improve in another 6 years time!

Think about how much he could improve in another 6 years time! that does not matter..it was debut..against much better opposition even now australia >new zealand yep he can improve every one can tbh but thats not the point from wht i see there he will not be succesful at current skill against decent batting sides pattinson atleast bowls some good ones even he needs to improve cummins is better than both but he is not test fit yet was bowling in 130's in second innings and ont hype him cos of 1 innings even sreesanth did very well in south africa.. in 2006 there are many variables that come into play yep potential wise he is good but anything can happen
