In an SMS sent to NDTV, Sachin wrote, "I am very happy for Viru. It is even more satisfying that an Indian has broken my record." Prior to Sehwag's effort Sachin's unbeaten 200 run score against South Africa in 2010 was the only double ton in ODIs.
