Viki_J Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 By Christopher Poshin David Abhimanyu Mithun has been announced as replacement for Praveen Kumar for the Australian tour, while Irfan Pathan has been picked for the final two One-Day Internationals against the Windies.IsnÃÕ there a mix-up? WasnÃÕ it supposed to be Mithun for the two ODIs and Irfan for the tour of Australia? A reporter wanting to get to clarify the matter caught up Krishnamachari Srikkanth, chairman of the selection panel. Click here to read Srikkanth's conversation !:giggle:
Ultimate_Game Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Can't believe Mithun is picked to tour Aus! The guy is a typical trundler with nothing much to offer, be it speed, movement or variations. Bowls in 120s or early 130s and gets thrashed to the boundary easily. Hell, even Vinay Kumar looks faster and better than Mithun :omg: If we don't have any fast bowlers better than Mithun at the moment I would rather have an additional spinner like Murali Kartik or Rahul Sharma picked for the tour.
yoda Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 He may be the worst player ever picked to play for India.
Ultimate_Game Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 He wont get a game. Then why even bother picking him? I would be happier with another spinner in the squad.
Sachin=GOD Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 He wont get a game. don't be so sure. Its only a matter of one or two injuries (that happen to Indian bowlers so often) and we will see the magical Mithun mesmerizing us in Australia.
Ultimate_Game Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 He may be the worst player ever picked to play for India. How can Irfan be any worse than Mithun? At least Irfan can bat and get us some runs.
coffee_rules Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Yes, he looks very bad, no variation..runs hard bowls hard at 127 kph. stump to stump ...anybody can pick any length he bowls at that speed. Classic trundler. How does he get wickets in Ranji?
Karan114 Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Utterly inexplicable selection but we are stuck with him for Australia now.
Laaloo Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 He's still in India. Surely we can change his selection, if he continues to get thrashed here
Sachin=GOD Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 He's still in India. Surely we can change his selection' date=' if he continues to get thrashed here[/quote'] haven't seen that happen. Ever. if he gets injured then he will be replaced otherwise he is going to Australia.
phaedrus Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 what a pathetic bowler. has nothing. i have no idea how he can be selected in the team. he should be kept away from the team
yoda Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 BTW, we are underestimating Dhoni's influence in getting this guy selected. Remember our Kaptaan has a liking for crappy players. (read, Chawla and WC)
Ultimate_Game Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 don't be so sure. Its only a matter of one or two injuries (that happen to Indian bowlers so often) and we will see the magical Mithun mesmerizing us in Australia. This is our best bet to beat Aus in Aus with Aus at its weakest and we send in the likes of Mithun whose specialty seems to be lack of pace and variations include being all over the place in terms of line & length. We were complaining about PK's selection to the test team earlier this year because of his lack of pace and now we see Mithun who is PK without the swing :haha:
vamos_rafa Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 He's still in India. Surely we can change his selection' date=' if he continues to get thrashed here[/quote'] Cheeka boy does not chanhge his decisions ever.

Ultimate_Game Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 :hysterical: Sir Aggy ko waapas laaao :whine: Sir Aggy at least hit 140s. Mithun is not good enough to tie Sir Aggy's shoe laces :--D
Sachin=GOD Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Sir Aggy at least hit 140s. Mithun is not good enough to tie Sir Aggy's shoe laces :--D I know. Agarkar was very much underrated and was better than these guys who can't cross 135 kmph and have no swing or variation.
ganeshran Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Mithun can hit late 130s. His problem is the lack of movement.
saneindian Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Irfan was sent back from the SA tour in 2006, similarly the selectors should omit Mithun from the Aus tour and pick a deserving candidate. Wouldn't mind if he is replaced by even Vinay Kumar. His action seems to be worse now than when he played in SL last year. Not sure what changes he has made and on whose advice.
