I started following cricket in 1986. Tour to India 87 was my first Indo-Pak series and we won the test series after winning that incredible banglore test. We won the one day series 5-1 and the only loss was a tie but India won due to losing fewer wickets. 99 we won 2 and lost 1 test on tour and again dominated the triangular series. 2005 we Drew the test series and won ODIs 4-2. Last tour was worst of them all in 2006 with a loser captain we were beaten fair and square. So all in all we have done brilliant in Ind tests and ODIs in last 25 years considering their stellar record home.

8 years team India was undefeated at home. If you look from 2000, we lost only to SA and Australia, 2 very strong teams at that point. :(( It actually gives some perspective to those wins, most of us write them off as home victories or victories due to flat pitches. The current lot is struggling to even compete in the pitches tailor made for India.

It is not a coincidence once VVS and RD are gone all of a sudden that 8 year streak ended. These two formed what one could call the heart of Indian batting all these years. It will take time to replace that quality and hopefully some of these guys will stand up to be counted and replace them both in character as well as batsmanship. What a modest, unassuming and a professional duo.

VVS and Kumble were the main reason for your home dominance in last decade. I use to dread when Kumble was bowling at our men despite YK and Inzi having great record in India.
