Honestly I'd have Hogg in the test team before Lyon or anybody else and that's the truth. He is bowling awesomely well, easily the best bowler in the Big Bash so far, he spins it a mile, Mark Waugh was saying in commentary the other night that Hoggy gets the most turn of any spinner he's seen (including Warne) and it wouldn't surprise me... I wouldn't care about his age I'd just get him in the Aus T/20 side now, he's fit, he's in the form of his career, so why not?

I am a Perth Scorchers member and have attended all of the home games at the WACA aka. the Furnace. Get Scorched! After watching him live, I can say that Hogg should be playing T20 for Australia; and Michael Beer (who has the best economy in the tournament) should be challenging Doherty and Lyon for the second spinners spot in the team. Hogg is still energetic and enthusiastic like he was when he played. In the field he is still quick and catches well; though with the bat I think he isn't as good. With the ball, his googly and flipper are still impossible to pick, and the batsmen he is bowling to aren't good enough to combat his variations. He is bowling very, very, very well. In short - yes, I think he should and will play in the T20 World Cup.

Hogg retired from the longer forms of the game because his body could no longer stand up to it. There is a massive difference in only having to bowl 4 overs and being required to bowl 20 in a day. Have a look at MacGill, bowl beautifully, but wouldn't be able to bowl a 10 over spell these days. There is no chance that Hogg will get picked for T/20, the selectors will go for younger players as recalling a 40 year-old doesn't offer much future for any side
