However, if one persists with 'wrong' rules, despite being pointed out - that would be being stupid.

Limits calculations is for different purpose ( for testing continuity and differentiability of functions) at a given value of variable...the one under discussion is a case of simple division. As for L'Hopital rule, it is applicable for the limits calculations which reduce to the form 0/0, inf/inf, 0^0, inf ^ inf, 1^inf....when tried direct substitution of value. Still, even if you want to apply L'Hopital rule in this case - for whatever reason, it is not applicable..as it is of the form "non-zero / zero"
