Will destiny stop at 99?

How awesome was he? Damn. The only reason anyone should be disappointed is because the pwnage ended, not because of this record. Especially in a series like this. He has the highest score in the match at S/R 75.

A hundred would have been great but I'm happy if he plays like he did today. I'd take it over a hundred as a plodder. Nothing annoys me more than watching Tendulkar scratch around. He should always bat like Tendulkar. It is similar to the start he made in Melbourne on the last tour. Hopefully the result is different this time.
THIS **** the 100. If anyone watching wasn't satisfied with this knock go shove a traffic cone up your ar$e

no forget its 100th 100 or anything..he was set so ideally he should have scored big one. we need him to get to that 100 asap because its actually playing on his mind...so soon he gets it better it is. I am not happy with 70s, I am not satisfied, I want double hundred...does not matter if its 99th 100 or 100th 100 or 101st..

There is a reason why he doesn't play in ONE single gear all the time. He is a freakin excellent judge of situations and conditions and plays accordingly. This is the main difference between him and say Sehwag or RD. He is very very shrewd in that regard. Knows when there are runs to be had. Yes it doesnt always work but it does by and large and hence the ginormous amounts of runs that he has plundered. Bleddy genius and pretty darn selfish one too :winky: The 30 odd he made at Centurion last year was another example ( of a different kind).
:hmmm: One is brutal and the other a good accumulator, both pillars of our batting line-up..how dare you decry them by bringing up a mere mortal who's neither devastating nor solid for team's liking :hitler:

This is the prime example of modern cricket..no matter how well set you are, there are 11(+2 +1) others in the field, who are also playing to win and best at their business..it just takes one super delivery/ one super fielding effort/ one brainfart while running/ one umpiring error to put it to end...so lot of stars have to align for the big ones. P.S. no Bread & Butter discussions please.

I believe it was Cowan who was saying no matter how many runs you have, you're not really set on this wicket. Though Tendulkar did kinda going into his shell, but lets give some credit to Siddle, he was steaming in at the end of the day. Beating both Dravid and Tendulkar

I have to disagree with going into shell. over or two ago he played risky shot over mid off against the angle(turn)...off Lyon.

51 test centuries > 100th test century. Do you even know whose 2nd on the list? No.. why? because there isn't such a record. Just cause there are lot of sachin fanatics, this is being marketed and talked about so much. Sachin just scored a magnificent 73 ffs. Instead of admiring it, there are threads about his missed opportunity for 100th 100.

He should have played odis against WI to score the 100th 100 - would have stopped all this hype and hoopla around it. Can't blame him for yesterday's dismissal as he looked the best batsman in the match by far and was unlucky to get the best delivery of the game - a 150 kph delivery which seamed in to take off and SRT couldn't have done much about it. If he continues to bat the way he did yesterday he's bound to get the 100 sooner than later.

can somebody please make a video of those 2 cover drives off hilfenhaus, and that on drive that followed. those were three of the best shots u will ever see. he basically played the 5 best shots of the entire test match in about 30 balls at the crease. legend.

When he was on 32 off 29 his innings has as many highlights as most batsmen's 100. His 2nd cover-drive which was played on the up and bissected the cover and mid off fielders was the shot of the match, closely followed by his first cover drive and the straight drive. Too bad he got out just before the close as he would have scored a big one today.

A ton will inevitably come. There can be no complaints of him - he has been scoring reasonably well. Yesterday's innings was a very good knock. I'm just savouring every ball he's at the crease these days. We're watching the final stages of one of the greatest sportsmen in history. Just sit back and enjoy. No need to stress about trivial statistics like this - he has already set so many records; his legacy will remain untainted.
