chainsmoker1985 Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 I remember when Cricket matches were telecasted on ESPN-Star Sports, they used to maintain the quality, but when Star Cricket channel was introduced, the quality standards has terribly gone down. May be , because some Indian company would have taken the 'theka' of Star Cricket. Few Incidents:- 1. I went to watch the IND-PAK WC semifinal in PCA stadium. I was over-joyed at Indian win and looking forward to watch the repeat telecast or highlights of the same match on Star Cricket. But, surprisingly there was no repeat telecast or 3 hour highlights of such a big match anywhere for the next 1 week. There was hardly half an hour quick highlights of that match. 2. A 'Technical Problem' is just a common feature on Star Cricket now-a-days. 3. Advertisements in between balls or skipping first ball or last ball of the over. Star Cricket people are so desperate to show ads that sometimes when last ball is a no-ball, they quickly switch on the advertisement then later realize, that there is 1 more ball to go, coz last ball was a no-ball. 4. Now, most recently. India Australia series is such a big series and any mistake in this series is definitely going 2 be highlighted. And these morons have decided not to establish a 'speed-gun' whereas Channel 9 had everything sorted out before the match and were showing speeds from the 1st ball itself. India has 2 90mph+ bowlers in their line-up and opposition has young quickies too. And importance of speeds are an integral part of Cricket now-a-days. Imagine, 90% Indians missed an Indian bowler touching 150k. Everyone saw, Umesh hitting Ricky on the helmet then next ball Umesh bowling a yorker, and to dish out that yorker, Ricky fell right face down. Automatically, viewers would like to check the speeds of such balls but there is no speed gun. Seriously disappointed.(:((
Stuge Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 I've no clue if there is no speed guns then how channel 9 is able to show the speeds .
chainsmoker1985 Posted December 27, 2011 Author Posted December 27, 2011 I've no clue if there is no speed guns then how channel 9 is able to show the speeds . Channel 9 has completely different set-up from ESPN-Star Cricket. They show different coverage as well. They have different commentators and speedometers as well
chainsmoker1985 Posted December 27, 2011 Author Posted December 27, 2011 I've no clue if there is no speed guns then how channel 9 is able to show the speeds . Channel 9 has all the technologies like KFC Hot spot and Rotator as well that shows the no of RPS of a spinner eg Ashwin turns the ball at 39 RPS
Malcolm Merlyn Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 ESS perhaps forgot to include the SPeed Gun and Rotator in their contract.they show eagle eye and Hot Spot. Also except India in all other series in AUS ESS uses the direct CH9 feed, why dont they use the same here, just use your own commentators thats it.Pathetic coverage.

That they are using of Channel 9 only. And what is the meaning of forgetting? Is this a monthly-ration that they forgot to buy
Malcolm Merlyn Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 That they are using of Channel 9 only. And what is the meaning of forgetting? Is this a monthly-ration that they forgot to buy Thats what i am saying they are using the Channel 9 eagle eye and Hot spot so there is no reason why cant they use their speed gun as well.Well we dont know whats their contract with CH9 includes,it may not include the speed gun readings or rotator. There is some issue surely else there is no reason not to show the readings.Pathetic stuff.
gult Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Manjrekar on twitter http://twitter.com/sanjaymanjrekar SANJAYMANJREKAR sanjay manjrekar learnt from ess..they r working on the speed gun issue..may take a while
Jersey #10 Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Don't even get me started on the trashy commentary...:haha: fortunately I've been watching sky sports (direct feed of channel 9). includes everything from channel 9 but the break shows (tea and lunch break).

Their standards have really gone down since Star Cricket came into existence. I think because star cricket is under Indian control

Yes, Channel 9 commentary standards are pretty good comparatively. But that Tony tiny greig's comments sometimes really pisses me off. He is so sarcastic
Spiderguy252 Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Indians in charge = Low quality stuff as output.
Ultimate_Game Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Extremely disappointed with the telecast and unaccaptable for such a premier series. Here are a few things I found wrong... 1. No speeds for fast bowlers. With Umesh in the team I was looking forward to the speeds he would bowl at but no speed gun available. The speeds were shown for Aus-NZ series so why not for Ind-Aus series? 2. Cameras are not able to follow the action on the field. Either they focus too close to the action or they are too far removed - case in point dropped catch off Sehwag by Haddin as the camera was focused too close to the pitch/wkt and we couldn't even see the edge to the wk!!! I had no clue what happened till a few seconds after the action. The same thing happened plenty of times. 3. No close-in shot or graphics regarding the field and fielding positions. In Aus-NZ series, and most of the series, the telecast uses a graphic which shows the field which is employed with fielding positions clearly shown. This would have been great to see especially to see the difference in field settings for Sehwag and Dravid. 4. No close-up camera which blows up the shot especially for a catch near the ground. This would have been good to see for the attempt made by Warner for Sehwag's catch. Till now it's not clear whether it was a dropped catch or the ball fell just short. Even the commies were not sure. If there had been a close-up sort of angle employed we could have seen for sure what happened. These are some of the major issues I found with the telecast and there were plenty of other items I can list. You definitely don't expect such poor telecast quality in this day and age.
Cricketics Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Be a passionate cricket fan like me than. Even after paying for tv coverage at home of willow cricket, I have subscribed to another stream only to get the channel 9 coverage. Star Cricket missed the whole national anthem ceremony. BS.

Cricketics Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Ye kab hua? Before the start of the match and after the toss, teams were line up with kids outside holidng the flag of both the nations. Just like last year. Star cricket though were busy showing IBALL XTRA.

This is seriously ridiculous man that they don't even bother to show national anthems before the match. I remember in some footage before the match, I saw the children carrying flags of both teams. I thought they are going 4 the national anthem but then it never came up on star cricket.:facepalm:
