Ultimate_Game Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 No matter how many practice matches we play, no matter how many days before the series we arrive for the series and no matter what a promising situation we find ourselves in (214/2 in our 1st innings), but eventually we mess up as usual and go down. Rest of the series is spent digging ourselves out of the hole and the best we can realistically hope for is a drawn series.
Cricketics Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Raju the first session isn't over yet. Abhi saala Australia batting hasn't even figured out how to score 300 plus. They have more problems than us in their batting department. We have every chance of coming back into this game. Gotta bat in p'ships in 2nd innings when chasing and especially bowl well.

Almost always our batsmen (incl the Great Maharathis) are responsible for poor first Test with these collapses. And like u say, even if they play practice matches, 3 weeks acclimatization, not much difference.

Our best away results have come when the 1st match has been affected by weather (Eng 2007, Aus 2003-04) or when we played odis before the Tests (SA 2006, NX 2008-09). Other than that we have gone down everytime. I guess BCCI needs to schedule tours where we play odis before the Tests else we will continue to struggle as usual overseas.
Ultimate_Game Posted December 28, 2011 Author Posted December 28, 2011 As usual we found it tough to even bat out a day (90 overs) in our 1st innings on an away tour :haha:
