The kind of intensity the indians were showing, we could have dismissed them then and there itself and we would have had to chase around 230. That would have been psycologically so much less daunting.

The total lack of self belief in the team is baffling. Barring the bowling unit, no one seemed to believe we could actually win the first test of an away series. We continue to flounder and fail to seize the opportunity when we had them under control, 214/6 in the irst innings, 27/4 in the 2nd innings or 170/8 in the 2nd or when we were 214/3. None of the batsmen look ready for a fight, as if they had given up. And lastly the leadership is getting exposed time and again. MSD's defensive mindset seems to have had an affect on the team as well. Spreading the field when there was no need to, changing bowlers just when they were troubling the batsmen and some clueless field placements, list of these errors is long. And this has been the trend for last so many series suggesting the rot has set in deep and will require a good clean up.

Ian Chappell and Sourav Ganguly on commentary mentioned how he was going "against the flow". There's plenty of time to discuss that but lets not forget the following facts : [A] Australia were ready to grind it out India's batting was abject [C] Australian bowlers did bowl well.

THE ENTIRE DEFEAT can come down to ONE moment. dravid dropping hussey. simple as that. if india had gotten hussey, the lead wouldn't have even come close to 250. cost india about 40 runs, screwed all the momentum and then dhoni shat all over the pitch with his pathetic field settings.

was close..we lost at crucial moments thats it and now its clear rohit would play at no 6.. we lost htis match in 2 morning sessions of day 3 and day 4.. australia played better specially hussey and ponting bowling wise we were equal..

Some people talking here like we lost only becuase we made mistakes not other side played well.. Even OZ dropped Viru thrice...couple of decisions went against them.. If you see overall they played better than us...as simple as that.. If Dravid dropping Hussey is crucial momnet..whet if hussey hold catch of Sehwag we should have bowled for 150... With a lead of 183 OZ should have battered (sorry to use patenetd word) us

All I'm saying is we shouldn't bark down the wrong tree. The first major pain point is batting, rest follows.

There are some improvements that can be made : 1) Lower Middle order needs to be stabilized: - Rohit Sharma should be included - If Rohit is not selected, then reshuffle the batting order.Something like : -Sehwag,Dravid,VVS,SRT,Kohli,Gambhir,Ash,Dhoni.... The advantages of this lineup would be that 1) Dravid can blunt the new ball 2) Maybe Kohli will play better knowing Gambhir is still there (??) 3) VVS would be better facing a new-ish ball feeding off the pace 2) Have a flexible batting order and try and introduce batsmen according to the bowling situation 3) Dhoni has to set aggressive fields.3 slips and a gully and backward point is a must. Likewise a forward short leg and a silly mid on for spinners 4) Kohli in the slip catchers position 5) Ash needs to flight it often.He dropped too short and was too straight with his line.SCG should help him. 6) Batsmen can step out a little to Siddle.He undid them with his swing and fullish balls.Anything to disrupt his rhythm.

Well it was quick and painless in the 4th innings. No False hopes and agonizing losses (Less than 30 runs). we were never in the game and kept losing wickets. you cannot blame one player or one moment in such a loss. collective failure of a lot of people. Yadav and Zaheer can hold their head high - they did what was asked of them. Ishant (or whatever his name is) needs to chip in with more wickets. Ashwin was decent I think. Poor match for Laxman, Gambhir and Kohli. Particularly pissed at Kohli's attitude - played an awful shot with legs in front of the Bat and then pretending as if he deserves a chance - would definitely have wasted a review if it were available. Seems to be lacking in technique at this level. What I enjoyed in the match was Sachin's knock in the first inning - he looked most fluent of all batsmen from both sides. More than that was really happy with our pacers fighting fire with fire and bowling quick and hostile spells
