For this discussion - god cud be defined as omnibelovent, omniscient, omnipresent, supremely powerful being. As an atheist, for me it would take something really big like god comes down and parts bay of bengal and verified by established scientists that it is not a magic trick)..

For me to change my belief well God would just have to appear right in front of me and prove how he created life.

This is because if there is no God, you can't prove something that is not there, so I will never have that proof so to speak. I can only go by what I feel within and I don't feel death is the end. A lot of my mates are physicists and physicians and some of them still believe in God. The more I dwell on space and how life began on Earth in this unique atmosphere, I am convinced there is a higher power.

I know quite a few scientists who believe in the deist definition of god. an interpersonal power which started life and thats it, no more involvement with day to day life or any of the rest.

We will never know if there was life BEFORE the big bang. Who knows what universes there were and what civilisations they contained. Time is a concept inserted by this higher power.

I don't have a definition sorry. hmm, dont get offended, but isnt your claim that you have a belief in something that does not have a definition there by rendering it untestable (it is not even a hypothesis) coupled with the statement that nothing will change your belief totally against your scientific background? Meaning within science and the scientific methods, you have to define your statement first of all and be ready to accept you are wrong if something will break your definition right? If you dont care to discuss this part that is absolutely fine with me

If you dont care to discuss this part that is absolutely fine with me No that is all true! I myself don't have a fixed definition yet because I don't feel I understand it. Maybe we are not meant to understand it until after death. So far I believe in an omnipotent and omnipresent higher power. I refer to higher power rather than God because I don't think we can understand all qualities. I think this higher power was responsible for the big bang, the carbon/hydrogen/nitrogen atoms e.t.c that are essential for life. Everything in this universe is preplanned and one day it will collapse as per science. Then the cycle will begin again... I don't understand our purpose but feel that the uniqueness of the cosmic ocean must have higher involvement. I am sure a physicist can explain it million times better.
