"They've been very disappointing. They (India) batted terribly and they just looked so lethargic in the field, they don't look like they want to be there," said Waugh. "The tactics are right out there, very defensive. Dhoni is a very defensive captain. I have watched him a lot and he sits back and tries to see the opposition make mistakes. "They've really got to change their attitude. They're pretty good at home but away from home they probably should be ranked about eighth," Waugh was quoted as saying by the website. Waugh, meanwhile, applauded the efforts of Ricky Ponting (134) and said now that the former skipper has managed to end his century drought, he is likely to score more runs. Stating that Ponting's knock could open the floodgates, Waugh said, "He has threatened in the past three or four months with quite a few 50s and it's just good to see him make that hundred. "He batted pretty well. I suppose you keep comparing him to the batsmen he was in his prime and he's not quite that player, but he's still very effective. He's a class player. That will keep the wolves at bay for a while I guess." "He'll probably relax a bit more now and you'll probably see him make a lot more runs before this Test series is out." Ponting hit his first century in two years -- 17 Tests and 33 innings -- this being his 40th hundred in his 160th Test.

But when we start doing badly, every expert would start taking out their khunnas against India and mark them as a poor side. Bloody hypocrites.

Does any Indian commentator or ex cricketer have the guts to call England or Australia home track bullies when they lose in India' date= especially the likes of Laxman Siva or Arun Lal with submissive mentality who agree with whatever their co-commentators are saying ? Anyway, I dont know if guys like Mark Waugh suffer from memory loss or do it purposefully, were India home track bullies when they won a series in England in 2007, drew a series in South Africa in 2010, drew the series in Australia in 2003 and won the last two test series in WI and NZ ? In fact, its the other teams which have been pathetic against India even in their home conditions. Agreed, they are playing poorly now but one has to be really dumb or just plain bitter not to give credit where its due. If you are an expert, then you are not supposed to show guts. You are an expert as you have played the game for long enough and can enlighten the common viewers like us by giving insights. Now do you really think Mark Waugh is enlightening us with his prejudiced view of the Indian cricket team?

Seriously, we didn't even look close to taking a wicket. Yes, Australia haven't beaten England in England since 2001 whereas we did it in 2007 but does that really matter. They have been World No.1 for 20 years. We couldn't even do it for 20 months. We were never a dominant No.1. Can we stop attacking people that criticise us when the criticism is valid. We need radical changes to the way Indian cricket is run from top to bottom.

Its not the fact that we lose overseas that bothers me, its the fact that I can't see a way for us to improve our overseas record the way Indian cricket has been heading. The fact that a country which has a population of 20 million can be a dominant World No.1 side for such a long time and we never have is a failure of the board ... pure and simple.

Mate, if you want to go down that road, you may as well stop watching Indian cricket altogether. Historically, we are no.7 on overall win/loss ratio in Test cricket despite having a bigger population than the rest of the Test nations combined.

Players to exert themselves and get mentally drained out or injured before such a important tournament.
