Philander vs Pattinson- Who will end with more test wickets?

Both have had fantastic starts to their careers, 24 wickets@14 for both of them. Pattinson is 5 years younger, and would be expected to end with more wickets. But skill wise, I would put Phillander ahead of Pattinson. With that swing at a decent pace, he will be much more consistent and would do well in most places around the world. He also looks like a complete pacer compared to Pattinson (who obviously is 5-10 km/h quicker than Phill). Pattinson also relies more on bounce to unsettle the batsmen and may not be as successful on slower sluggish tracks. The key question is can both of them end with 250+ test wickets or is it too early to put them on that pedestal?

Philander is all bout accuracy. He does not have much skill, does not even have a perfect seam position, has wobbly seam, look at in this match with no swing or seam, he struggled, only took 1 wicket. Those were too seam friendly tracks and his accuracy worked there. On those kind of tracks, you don't need perfect seam, just perfect accuracy, which he did well and moved the ball just enough to bother the batsmen. He was more accurate than any other bowler, even more than Steyn that is why he took more wickets than Steyn. Pattinson has perfect seam, is at least 10K quicker, and is aggressive, also can bowl fuller length. Both will do well as they play in more helpful conditions and know how to utilize those conditions.

Did you watch his spell today morning r in the last session y'day? He was all over Dilshan yday and could have got Samarweera 5 times today morning! Swing, seam , bounce he showed everything in those two spells.

Let him come to India and see how much he swings or seams. Cant say anything until then. Those conditions in SA does not need much skills, if one can be accurate and decent pace can easily bother batsmen. Accuracy at around 135K is the key on those pitches and a half decent seam position.

Pattinson has more chance of succeeding than philander as he is quicker,But to label them 250+ wicket after just bowling in bowling friendly conditions is jumping the gun .

Arey aapna bhi koi phasst bowler 100 wicktein lega kya ? :((
Ishant will surely go past 300 test wickets. Umesh looks like another one who is capable of topping 200+ test wickets.

No chance. I think he would be the last of our bowlers to be dropped.
Yep. Anyway, as we saw with Harris and Hilf, if you miss games through injury and the replacements step up then you can't get back in easily. Before this series Harris was considered the best Aussie bowler and Hilf was making a comeback after a year, but Hilf took 7 wickets at the MCG and Harris couldn't make the XI even though he was fit.

Hope it happens but I have more faith in PK than Ishant,PK just needs to stay fit.
