prinzo Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 rememebr that although India won the world cup , they lost to South Africa in the tournament
prinzo Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Saurav01 Seems like South Africa is not really a major cricketing nation, but winning a series there would be the pinnacle of cricketing accomplishment. Saurav01 , if South Africa is not a major cricketing nation , it must be embarrasing for India to have not won a test series in SA is it not , even better yet to have lost a ODI game in the world cup to "SA" aswell:hysterical:
Ultimate_Game Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 rememebr that although India won the world cup ' date=' they lost to South Africa in the tournament[/quote'] I will happily take bunch of WC losses as long as we win the tourney... something akin to losing a battle but winning the war
special K Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Sour grapes from Indian fans. It's much easier to win a slogging contest then to win a test series in SA or Aus. Indian fans know this deep down, but they don't want to admit it. CWC is equivalent to 5 a side football or winning rugby 7's at the Olympics. It's not real crciket.

If it were so easy I am sure Eng would have managed multiple titles by now :haha: I see sour grapes but from some other team's fans - the team who managed to choke in 3 WC finals :--D
Texan Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 WC win for sure. The World Cup is etched in history forever. Even the ICC lists it as the pinnacle of the sport of cricket.

ICC just saying this to keep other countries interested. Everybody knows the Ashes is the most important thing to win in cricket. Series between the two biggest cricket countries.

Second biggest is Border/Gavaskar trophy.
Old guy Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Definitely the biggest series. Second biggest is Border/Gavaskar trophy. biggest for us in last century was india vs pak.. and india vs australia in this decade for england it was ashes cos they barely won it in last 30 years thats why 2005 was so big!
Old guy Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 i remeber brett lee saying india vs aus is bigger than ashes.. so can we stop discussing abt this stupid subject?
Ultimate_Game Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 And out of all test playing nations? Where does India fit here?
