Best format for odi world cup..

As we see there is lot of buzz abt world cup format and how many teams should participate..If the minnows are left out then they dont get opportunity and if they are taken in then there is lot of one sided matches.We also want the format to be such where a top team can bounce back frm any upset in the group stage ...so there should be a format wid less but competitive matches ...So here is wat i am suggesting -Make 3 groups wid 5 teams each where every team plays each other within the group..Total 10 matches in each group..So 30 matches in group stages -Top two frm each group goes to the super sixes -No carry frwd points.In the super six every one plays each other.This will give 15 competitive matches among the top teams.. -Semi final ,Final and a match for third place will add 3 matches more..So world cup wid less then 50 matches which could be easily completed within a month... Group A- India,Pakistan,Newzeland,Holland,Scotland Group B- Australia,England,Bangladesh,Zimbabwe,Uae Group C- S.Africa,Srilanka,West indies,Kenya,Canada

This is the part that I strongly contest. If a group has 5 teams. On the last match day, 3 of the teams of the groups would have already finished their games. 2 teams will be playing knowing exactly what they need to do in terms of win/loss/run rate etc to qualify. It gives them a big advantage.

the best format is 2 groups of 6 teams each....3 from each go to super6, then like the 03 wc , 4 best go to finals.....the number of matches would be same or rather less than this wc bcoz, this year there were 2 groups of 7 teams each, so the 7th team played 6 useless matches in both the group, so its better to have super6 which has meaningful matches

Thats not ideal first 4 groups of 4 teams then top 2 qualify from each group then it should be Super 8s like the 2007 wc and not directly Qfs this is a risky schedule . A strong team loses 1 match against a minnow and they could well be out of the wc like what happened with Ind and Pak during 2007 wc. Best would be divide teams to two groups so that even minnows will have to defeat 2-3 good teams to proceed to the next group. Then Super Sixes with points carried from last round so that no teams take any of the 1st round matches for granted then semis then finals best like 2003 wc
