Srikkanth defends Dhoni's captaincy, blames batsmen

We are blaming selectors for not doing anything to enhance the bench strength or blood the youngsters when they had the chance. For example we had 6 Tests against WI and even at home we played "over the hill" batsmen rather than blood batsmen like Rahane and Rohit. Rohit has been in such good form of late but hasn't been given a break. I guess selectors are waiting for him to cool off before playing him :haha: If selection is all about playing the tried and tested anyone can do the job. Hell even a 12 year old can write down the team sheet with Dravid, Tendulkar, Laxman, Sehwag, Gambhir, Dhoni, Zaheer etc. in the team. We don't need to pay selectors 25 lakhs for this sort of stuff. The selector's job is to build bench strength and to ensure the team doesn't get impacted a lot in case the seniors retire, i.e. working on transition plan. What has our selectors done? Nothing! And this is what we are pissed about. If selectors had built a decent pool of players when they had the chance we wouldn't be in such a spot we are in right now, i.e. when some of the players in the team are out of form or past their sell-by-date we don't know what to do as our selectors never prepared for that contingency and this blame falls squarely on the selectors headed by Srikkanth.
Also selectors need to have eye for talent. They are all former players and have played enough to know who has in him to play at the highest level and be effective. They must know who cannot make any impact at that level. They also need to know what problems one is lacking in his game so that they can identify that this play is not to be chosen. They also need to watch most of the domestic matches which they do no do. Why BCCI then need to a selection panel and give them so much money? Why cannot BCCI president and secretary themselves chose the team from their bedrooms?

Are they proving to be better? We have seen them do well against a poor Windies batting line up IN INDIA and Ashwin looks ok but nothing special so far in Aus without much assistance from the pitch' date=' but they still need time. If any bowler could be captain is Zak and even he isnt the best option as he will have to be rested in some forms of the game.[/quote'] Bhajji is crap, home and away, he can still bowl tight so he would be a good ODI and T20 bowler still. These guys at least showing some signs of progress in tests unlike Bhajji. Zak would be ok for captain but don't think he is good leader.

Please change the kaptaan :protest: We will start winning again once we change the kaptaan.What we need is someone aggrashive to lead us and once we appoint some aggrashive kaptaan,batsmen will automatically start scoring again and our bowlers will suddenly become world class. :regular_smile:
++++ :protest:

I am appalled at lack of knowledge exhibited by Kris Srikanth (unless he is pretending & putting a politically right face)...even a Kindergartener would know that this is totally flawed captaincy (@ TEST format) from the time we gifted on platter 3rd test in WI last yr. Dhoni has stuck to the same defensive tactics that work well in some ODI format or subcontinental pitches with 2 spinners operating from both ends. In overseas he has no clue when a partnership starts developing ...it does not matter if its 1st wkt or 10th wkt partnership!!...he will spread his field even for # 10 batsman if #11 is on other end.To add to his woes, he is dealing with past expiry date batsmen and sluggish fielders (some still young). He and his team is not able to show any resolve or new strategy to counter Aussies fast bowlers ? just leave it to individuals and rest to god ! Well if we win any of next 2 test or even draw it will be by god's grace !

ok when u lose so badly ... by innings there is never one reason for loss it was bad captaincy ,bad batting in first innings,lack of intensity while bowling but to me the biggest concern was when australians were going all out against us we did nothing i mean atleast frustrate them... ur playing defensively then atleast bowl to some plan save some time... i would ve loved to see south africa or england in same position u guys would ve seen the difference we were clue less i dont know wht fletcher is doing there are many days when ur not getting enough movement.. or wickets whats plan b spread the feilds and hope for them to make mistake ? i dont think we will ever be able to win matches consistently like this these techniques might work in india with spinners bowling and batsmen being bad players of spin but its jsut looks bad we were no 1 last year lmao
