dont know but no one was able to pick his swing he was the lone good bowler in whole series..if he was fit and playedi n place of ishant we could ve done lot better cos atleast he would ve kept it tight u dont need pace... he can bowl with exceptional contorl and swing both ways..

That too when he gets all the support and confidence from Dhoni, in fact extra support as compared to others

i know but we dont need a steyn.. wht we need is osme one who restricts runs and get 2-3 wickets per innings u know where we lost in bowling? ishant being wayward and not picking wickets.. imagine yadav getting 3 quick ones like he did in 2 matches then zack getting other 2 its 5 down then ishant comes and never picks wickets..and pressure is released im not syaing he is very good im jsut saying in this bowling line up he would ve been effective enough after all u gotta pick wickets as a unit :) and he would ve def not given runs at 5 rpo..can bowl long spells too ..

I am speaking without the knowledge so don't shoot me, but his numbers were really good - Ave 18 or 19 so he must have something... I dont know what opportunities he got or how Dhoni protected him but I was going by numbers and though he looked pretty good.

Even I am not in favor of Ishant till he gets his rhythm back but Praveen is not the ideal choice too. You are saying that he will keep the one end tight but what we ideally need at this moment is a strike bowler alongwith Zaheer and Umesh. Coz if you look at the whole picture, Zaheer is having more bad days than good days and Umesh is a rookie. He is just learning how to set the batsmen, how to get them out, how to stop runs. So when Zaheer and Umesh are having an average time, then what we need is a strike bowler one down. Someone like Peter Siddle or Stuart Broad who can take wickets anytime. The main point is, we cannot have two swing and medium pacers(Zaheer and Praveen) at test level if we have to win abroad.

He took 12 wickets in 3 tests at 21 odd. Then in favorable conditions in England he took wicket 15 wickets in 3 tests at 30 odd. He actually bowled well only in 1st test 1st innings at Lords where he took 5 wkt haul that saved his whole tour. The rest of the tour was below average for him.

You're probably right if the reports are accurate... his injury is career ending and he is lucky to not have lost the digit.... If thats the case it would be a shame... I saw him a couple of times and he was the best keeper I had seen in a while (not keeper batsmen - true keeper) and I say that believe it or not without bias because he is an aussie

I've seen some of the Sheffield Shield matches because they have free entry now. Hartley is the best pure keeper in the country. Wade isn't the greatest keeper. For this topic, Kohli looks to be a real good find. He has, as they would say in Australia, ticker and a bit of mongrel. He should do well for himself and he responded well to sledging by scoring a century. He could however do better by not crying to the media but that will come with experience. Yadav looks raw but he has promise.

How has Ashwin been a positive? His bowling has been pretty mediocre - poor if you want to be harsh. Kohli has improved as the series has gone on. Still has plenty of work to do but the progress was good to see.

you are right...this has been a habit to find some positves out of disasters now a days...there are No positives... Same Kohli struggled against Windies...he has to complete 10/15 more tests to claim a Spot (any way now lot of spots opened it doesnt matter) As for as Ashwin is concerned in pitches not assisting to him he is almost equal to Bhajji in Turning tracks ...his batting wont be excuse ...

Not sure about Positives for Indian team but for myself 1.Save money by not subscribing cable for Indian tours 2.Get good night of sleep (virtually all Indian tours end up late night telecast for me) 4.More time for value added work. 3.Lastly avoid depression just before going to sleep (hate the most)
