Khansaab, KT, MTC, dumdum... You guys seem to be experts about UP. I was eager to know why the UP people don't lap up the Congress despite their high profile canvassers?

Hung Assembly in UP, Samajwadi Party to be largest party: Exit polls The Samajwadi Party will emerge as the single largest party in Uttar Pradesh but India's most populous state will have a hung assembly, exit polls after the final round of voting in the seven-phase assembly elections in the state predicted Saturday.

Star News-Nielsen Exit poll predicts a hung assembly in the assembly elections. The poll predicts Mulayam Singh Yadav's Samajwadi Party to be the single largest party with a tally of 160 in the 403-seat house, and 26 percent vote share. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is predicted to get just 86 seats with 24 percent vote share, indicating a disillusionment with Chief Minister Mayawati. According to Star News-Nielsen Exit poll, the Bharatiya Janata Party will be the third largest party in the state with a tally of 80 seats, just six seats less than the ruling BSP. The BJP will garner a vote share of 18 percent. Buoyed by Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi's extensive campaigning, the Congress is predicted to more than double its figure of 22 in 2007 to 58 this time. The Congress's ally, Ajit Singh's Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) is expected to win 12 seats. The India TV-C voter exit poll shows the SP emerging as the single largest party with 141 seats followed by the BSP at 126. The Congress, according to the India TV poll, is predicted to get only 36 seats and the BJP will do much better with 83 seats. According to another exit poll conducted by News 24-Chanakya, the SP will grab 185 seats, falling 17-seat short of a simple majority in the 403-member assembly. The BSP will get only 85 seats, followed by the BJP and Congress with 55 seats each. According to exit polls, there is a close contest in Punjab between the Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party (SAD-BJP) alliance and the Congress, with the former ahead by a narrow margin. According to a News24 study, Congress could score a decisive victory with 60 seats in the 117-member House. According to the CNN-IBN survey, the SAD-BJP is still expected finish on top again by retaining 51-63 seats, which is less than its 2007 tally of 68. Congress is projected to be a close second at 48-60 seats; its 2007 tally was 44. The People's Party of Punjab (PPP) led by former SAD leader Manpreet Singh Badal may be the biggest gainer in Punjab this year.

Well strangley last time the Brahmanis voted for Mayawati. I have no idea the logic why they did but they did.
Satish Chandra Mishra (BSP's Brahmin face) did a lot of work among the Brahmins last time and BSP gave quite a few tickets to Brahmins so they voted for BSP. Ain't gonna happen this time.

The last Kangressi who actually impressed UP's population was Narayan Dutt Tiwari. Since then no Kangress leader has managed to create a base among the masses. Also, there is lots of infighting among state leaders like Pramod Tiwari, Rita Joshi, Jagdambiga Pal, Salman Khurshid, Sripraksah Jaiwal etc so even if someone tries to do some good work to rejuvenate the party (like the current state president Rita Bahuguna Joshi who has worked hard since becoming the State Presidnet), the other leaders don't let that happen. As for the "star pracharaks" - Rahul Baba may go in the huts of as many dalits as he likes, it doesn't have any effect at all and even though he has been in politics for nearly a decade now, the people still think that he's immature. In fact young politicians from other parties (like Akhilesh Yadav of SP and Jayant Chaudhary of RLD) have manged to impress the people more than Rahul Gandhi in a shorter time.

The Election Commission on Saturday asked the Uttar Pradesh government to uncover statues of Chief Minister Mayawati and of elephants, the Bahujan Samaj Party's poll symbol, in the state.

^the Kangress has said that if it does well then all credit will go to Rahul Baba and if it does not do well then it will be because of organizational failure :hysterical::hysterical:

Kangressis not gonna admit any failures this time. Mere increase in seats from last time will be projected as success. NDA is facing anti-incumbency in Punjab & Uttrakhand and will put it on backfoot.

Disappointed by BJP. WTF these jokers are doing? I don't see them taking on Congress in the 2014 Loksabha elections.. Complete screw up in Uttrakhand and no credible local leader in UP. In all probability will lose Karnataka in the coming elections.. Pretty soon it'll look like a regional party.. WTF was that motu Gadhkari was doing? WTF RSS doing? Can't they do a job properly?

Actually they've done better than expectations (except UP) - they were expected to lose Punjab but won a resounding victory. They won handsomely in Goa and in Uttrakhand also, BJP was expected to lose but its still in a position to form the Govt. So overall it was a good result apart from UP. Its the Congress which has had the biggest losses everywhere - expected to form Govt in Punjab but lost badly. Lost Goa badly. In Uttrakhand they should've won easily but may or may not from Govt. In UP they have been routed. Overall very bad result for Congress.

BJP has to take a chance....Advani should not be PM candidate. They need to promote either Modi or Chauhan (MP CM) as PM candidate...they have nothing to lose, that gamble they have to take
