He did and fared poorly as expected after the operation: scorecard Could have played other matches too, if you dig in. What about the previous season to find out his form if he was consistently doing well? Doing well in just inning doesn't evoke too much of confidence in me, frankly, to choose him for a A side. If you or anyone else is a fan, please post his Ranji and Duleep stats of 2010.
It can happen anyone after injury but it does not say that he has regressed or what. He has an average of 55 in FC. One dont get that average if he is inconsistent and he plays mostly on good sporting pitches of bengalore and Gangotri Glades Mysore. Two of the better tracks in India which help fast bowlers as well. They are not completely flat tracks. He may not be good enough for international cricket that is another debate, but saying he regressed is wrong. He has been consistent in FC cricket.

Last 3 seasons for Pandey 2009-10- 10 matches, 956 runs@60 with 4 100s 2010-11- 10 matches, 958 runs@57 with 3 100s 2011-12- 5 matches, 349 runs@87 with a 200* For 2010-11 season, scored 629 runs@45 in 8 matches in Ranji and 327run @109 in 2 matches in Duleep Trophy. A decent enough record. Also did well in the 3-day matches we played in the EPT last year.

Only had one match in Duleep trophy this year as South were kncoked out in 1st Semi, but made a 32 not out in 2nd dig. Given his consistency he is definitely a contender for an A tour spot. it will also show consistency from the selectors as he has been in A tour to England and on EPT, where as SaneI points out he did well. Because of the bad luck with injuries it could be that Bisht and S Yadav have just pipped him for middle order sports though. Anyway I hope its an experiecned squad that goes, fringe test players get them readier for senior side.

I'll say choose Nachim instead on Pankaj and give Nadeem a shot too as he looks to be a wicket taker. Pathan is ineffective. Which swing bowler can be taken in his place? And Pandey? He has regressed terribly, even for limited overs.
Why the hate for Pankaj, yeah he is not express but he should be rewarded for the wickets he has taken over the years been most consistent domestic paceman in the best domestic team. Cannot ignore that. An A team spot is the least he deserves. Nechim Ahmed is nippier sure, but his FC record is average, he maybe a better bet for a first team spot in the Ltd overs team given his success and experience in T20. He should be in the longer format squad, but Pankaj, Dinda and Awana the first choice trio

Pankaj doesn't look to be a test bowler. And the guy who doesn't seem to have the potential to be a test bowler, what is the point of awarding him with the spot? Wasn't that the reason to exclude Pathan? And there is no hate for him but simple common sense. Apart from that the guy is a terrible fielder too. I saw that. And Ranji performers are Joginder Sharma, TP Sudhindra and we all know what kind of bowlers they are. So please, do not waste India A spot just like that.
