Could be masala news, but Aajtak and Headlines Today saying they have talked to 3 of the selectors and have been told MSD will remain the captain for our next series. Not sure how accurate their story is. Dada, Kapil Paaji and Gavaskar all supporting MSD to remain the test skipper as they feel he is still the best man to lead the side.

I think no one is questioning his commitment here, with this team any captain would've faced back to back white-washes, but to talk about retirement and quitting captaincy isn't the right attitude. Journalist will keep asking all sorts of questions doesn't mean he has to answer them all. And these kind of decisions should be discussed with board not out in public.

How many test matches in a row have we lost away from home? Are we in double figures yet? Yes dhoni doing a great job. Keep up the good work.:two_thumbs_up: Ready to quit.....what a joke!!!!!!! He should be booted out of the team asap.

Smartly said by Dhoni. Basically he is saying if you have better person than me for captaincy role then bring him. And we dont have anybody better than him. He also knows that. like I said before who are the choices? Sehwag but he doesn't think. Oldies are old. Others dont have fixed place in side. Gambhir also I dont think can be good captain

Dont have anyone better??? You kidding me. Number 1 should be not in test team as awful batsman in test arena. Number 2 we have lost an unbelivable 8 test matches in a row away from home. You say no one better, I say no one could do worse. The fact that he is totally gutless with no desire to fight for the team or make the team fighters. He is uselss now. no time for cpatain cool when we have become this bad. Time for captain roll up your sleeves and give it your all.

Wrong. If he said he was embaarsed and taking responsibilty but was determined to stay on and fight for indian cricket and determined to lead India back to number 1 in tests. Then at least we could say he is ready to roll his sleeves up get us back to winning. Not this I am not really that bothered attitude like we have just lost an odi series. This well I will carry on maybe but if someone else wants to do it I dont really care BS. SACK HIM NOW
Read his comments again. There is nothing wrong with what he said. If someone else can do the job better than him, then he should be the captain and Dhoni doesnt take the job as an entitlement. Totally Fair. Dhoni's field positioning in the series were not upto the mark and his batting poor, but the problems in this team run much deeper than him alone. If changing captains was the magic bullet, then we should have done well on a flat track in Adelaide where we didnt reach 300 twice but conceded 600+. There is a collective failure of batting, bowling and fielding and no captain no matter how good he may be can salvage a team when others are performing so poorly

If you read his press conference again,he has cleared what he meant by retiring by 2013.He cleared he will retire from cricket altoghter by end of 2013 if his body doesnt hold up,its not about retiring from a particular format. Even if he had ducked the question, even then our media would have run stories on this issue.Headlines like Dhoni's no comments means he is no mood to give up test captaincy, would have been the flavour of the day instead.Dont underestimate our media on things like these, they are very clever creatures. And its not as if he said that he is quitting test kaptaani today only.He just said if BCCI thinks someone else can help the country in the context of kaptaani more than him, then he is more than willing to give up test captaincy for that person, because in the end country should perform, which was very well put in my opinion. But some internet warriors saw it as an oppurtunity to start moaning.

I have been very critical of Dhoni's captaincy for the past year or so, calling him names etc. etc. but after seeing clowns like Ishant Sharma bowl, it looks as if I have been very harsh on Dhoni. Still doesnt make it up for his captaincy or his press conference analogies. Well of course, gotta feel sorry for him when he has clowns like Harbhajan, Sreesanth, and Ishant at his disposal.

Don't talk about Tendulkar that way. :haha:

actually after hearing all the fans here criticizing dhoni and trying to use this interview as a reason to kick him out, I feel this was one of the better press interviews he gave... typical open end, speculate what you want statements ... everybody can come up with their own assumptions and feel they have found reason to support their own conclusions...

Yes they were wrong but he is also human and can make up mistakes. It's like saying that Federer has no right to miss an easy forehand. The point is, if the mistake was so obvious, then what were the others on the field doing? Also, do you remmeber him setting defensive fields in Windies when Ishant was really wrecking havoc? Don't we have a vice-kaptaan in our team? What is he for in the team, just to fill in when the kaptan wants to pee? Had the seniors lost sight when there were such defensive fields? Also, talking of Umesh Yadav, he was below par those times. He had toured Zimbabwe and there was nothing to write home about him then. PK was our best seamer in England and you have problems with him supporting him. He could have easily dropped Kohli in the Perth test, instead he gave him a chance and he scored. I am no MSD fanatic myself but there has to be a limit to which this critisicm is being taken. And talking of his place, he has performed better than Sehwag in so many of our abroad tours. Sehwag would always live by the sword and die by the sword but would never guts it out.

1. Yes umesh did not do well in odis in zimbabwe but even a fool would pick him up ahead of that left armer who did not even have any international experience in a test. 2.P.k has been horrible in odis for 2 years ,yet he seems to be instant selection in odis. 3.Shewag has guts it out abroad many times ,ex-adelaide,mcg,eng, 4.Regarding defensive field for wi ,Most of them did not last long and those who did the field went back as soon as a boundary was hit. 4.And you cannot have a guy who goes on saying i have technical problems and i cant score runs abroad, what the hell are u not working on your technique rather than saying it at press conference.

regarding field setting -- isnt the bowler and captain both equally responsible...or is everyone saying Dhoni sets field against the wish of bowlers? or against the planning done before the start?
