Bilal_Khan Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 So what's the story on this guy, is he still Kapil Dev 2.0 or was he just a prototype ala is he still good ?
Old guy Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 he is no way a all rounder he can still be very useful if he can bowl like before and bat a bit (i think his batting has gone down) but he is no all rounder even his bowling imo is not test class
Cricket Tragic Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Clown in test cricket. He may have a future in the shorter formats.
Chaos Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Clown in test cricket. He may have a future in the shorter formats. yep ishant and vinay tearing the opponents down. Atleast irfan gave us good moments unlike once in a blue moon sharma and Express kumar.
Tendulkar_Bhai Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Urfan is a clever bowler in a different league to VK and Mithun, they might be similar pace but his swing and variations have got us wickets in the past - ask Pakistan! Plus him instead of Jadega on these pitches is a much better option bowling wise, his batting i havnt seen recently.
cybervickey Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 This kid was special when he debuted.don't know what happened to him . ZAK is proably the only exception in indian fast bowlers. This guys has so much potential.HE should really work hard on his bowling instead of trying to be a batting allrounder. The indian team needs bowler.Batting talent is immense here.
CG Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Clown in test cricket. He may have a future in the shorter formats. :hysterical::hysterical: Look at his test match peformance, yes he has many wickets against zim,But our other fast bowlers cannot even take wickets against zim.
NeutralCat Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 I think we ruined him when we started batting him up the order, he could have been a handy player for us, being a bowling all rounder batting around 6 or 7. Instead we tried to make him into something he was not, I feel sorry for him he was ruined by Indian cricket.
rkt.india Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 yep ishant and vinay tearing the opponents down. Atleast irfan gave us good moments unlike once in a blue moon sharma and Express kumar. Which moment you are talking about. His bets moments are against Zim and Bangladesh and Ishant has bowled more good spells than Irfan in test cricket.
saneindian Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Still a very good utility player and someone who is ideal for the shorter formats. Also he is at the right age to get to the peak of his cricket and do well for the country. Deserves to play as the 3rd seamer in the t20 and the CB series.
NeutralCat Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 I agree he should be in the ODI team for the whole of the CB series, and should get a game tonight. Hopefully he can force his way back into the Test team as well, could prove to be a very handy utility for us, but I still think he needs to be picked as a bowler who can bat a little.
rabinjackman Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 He is a fiielder who can bat and bowler, a complete all rounder
rkt.india Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Still a very good utility player and someone who is ideal for the shorter formats. Also he is at the right age to get to the peak of his cricket and do well for the country. Deserves to play as the 3rd seamer in the t20 and the CB series. Can only play as a 4th seamer behind Zak, PK< and Yadav..in place of Jadeja as these pitches will suit him more than Jadeja.
Cricket Tragic Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 yep ishant and vinay tearing the opponents down. Atleast irfan gave us good moments unlike once in a blue moon sharma and Express kumar. So he's better than Kooomar. That doesn't say much. Pathan will never be a world class test bowler.
Sooda Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 ^ yeah he could have. Right up there on that list that reads Rudra Singh, Sree Santh, Munaf Patel etc. He was a key reason we won in Pakistan in 2004 I dont know how much things have changed of late but his bowling has lost the zip and he is far too reliant on conditions favouring him, dosent have the line and length to just keep things tight like Praveen can. I wish he could play test cricket as a 5th bowler but I doubt he is good enough, merits a spot in the ODI squad though itd be good to see what he can do. he was a top class ODI cricketer for us at his best
bharat297 Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 In his prime, he was the best pure swing bowler we have produced in the last 20 years in my opinion. Praveen can swing it more, but swings it earlier and slower Zaheer can swing it later but he is more of a crafty swing bowler than someone who gets mammoth late swing. RP Singh could mainly swing it one way. But Pathan in his prime could get late swing and a lot of it. Then he lost it and struggled for form. If he finds it again and, from the looks of it, he appears to have he could be a very very useful bowler for India in the future and a potential leader of the bowling attack once Zaheer steps down.
CG Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 So he's better than Kooomar. That doesn't say much. Pathan will never be a world class test bowler. He does not need to after all he is an allrounder,His aim should be to become a world class allrounder.
saneindian Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Doesn't get a chance again. MSD surely has a problem with him. Cant believe a seam bowling all rounder not being picked for the t20 11.
