More... NEW DELHI, February 7, 2012 India 'A' to tour West Indies PTI The India 'A' cricket team will tour the West Indies from May 30 to June 24, the BCCI announced on Tuesday. The BCCI has finalised the participation of the India 'A', Under-19, and the women's team in series/tournaments over the next few months, BCCI Secretary Sanjay Jagdale said in a statement. The schedule: India's (women) tour of the West Indies: February 15-March 5, 2012; Australia's (women) tour of India: March 10-24. U-19 quadrangular series in Australia (India/Australia/England/NZ): April 2-16; U-19 Asia Cup in Malaysia: June 23-July 1; U-19 ICC CWC in Australia: August 4-26. India 'A' tour of the West Indies: May 30-June 24; Women's Asia Cup in China: October 22-31.

A 24 day tour, we may not see many first class matches on this tour. A trip to England would have been better, nevertheless, as long as the team gets to play first class matches on such tours, it will help the younger players.

^ Should still find different conditions to home, that will help. Eng Lions actually took part in their domestic competition last year, or maybe year before... Briggs who is currently in the ODI squad finished top wicket taker. That kind of exposure is ideal. They even took part in Duleep trophy a few years ago- Pieterson played in that Lions team. Anyway will be interesting to see the squad when the time comes

The tour should be a little longer, at least 1.5-2 months and they should tour SA, Aus, Eng and NZ as well, i.e. 3 tours of 1.5-2 months every year. First year they should tour WI, Aus and NZ, the next year SA, Eng and Sl, and the circle should be repeated with tours to each country at least once every 2 years. This is the only way we will have decent bench strength and produce players who can perform everrywhere. Some U-19 tours should also be organized to ensure the youngsters get some exposure to away conditions.

The tour is a good idea but normally the selections defeat the purpose,select players with potential not mediocre stats based or region based selections.I wanna see Anwar Ahmed, Abu Nechim, Pawan Suyal, Tyagi, Gony if fit,Rahul Shukla not 115 trundlers like Sudhindra, Sandhu lol, Kulkarni also talented bats like Jaggi, Manish, Mandeep, Vijay , Mukund, Pujara, Kartik, spinners Abdulla , Saxena, Bhatt.
