CG Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Praveen Kumar Performances in Odis have goon down consistently year after year,He has had horrible last year averaging 50 per wicket and his contributions with bat have been none.To top it he averages 60 in india, which worse of any indian fast bowler after playing so many matches. But his place is somehow not under scrutiny and is our first choice in limited overs cricket. bulbul Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Yes stats do not show the whole story,But him being regarded as automatic choice for india is a joke same like Ishanth " without a useful coach cant bowl straight " sharma
CG Posted February 8, 2012 Author Posted February 8, 2012 same like Ishanth " without a useful coach cant bowl straight " sharma Ishant has been dropped before ,But P.k seems to have immunity.
saneindian Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Has had far too many injuries in the last 12 months. Injured before the SA tour and WC, came back for WI, got injured before the 4th test in Eng, injured again around the WI home series and then during the Aus tests. That shows in lack of rhythm. May lose hisspot to Irfan/Umesh during this series itself.
ganeshran Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 I think he will be replaced by Yadav in next match. When Zak doesnt play he is in the team because of the experience as VK is a rookie. But since Zak is playing, we can give chance to another rookie

Needforspeed Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 PK has been a good ODI bowler, but looks totally out of rhythm here. Maybe coming to the side straight from his injury hasn't helped him. He needs to be replaced by Pathan or Yadav.
ganeshran Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 What does Irfan bring to the table that PK doesnt have? After the injury Irfan just doesnt seem to be the same bowler or batsman that everyone was hoping he would be
CG Posted February 8, 2012 Author Posted February 8, 2012 What does Irfan bring to the table that PK doesnt have? After the injury Irfan just doesnt seem to be the same bowler or batsman that everyone was hoping he would be Firstly he is a better batsman ,fielder than praveen kumar, secondly he cannot do worse than praveen kumar who is one of the worst odi bowlers in the world currently.Irfan has gone back to his old action which enabled him to get that inswing,

express bowling Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 PK has been a very ordinary ODI bowler and a much better test bowler. He should not be played in Australian ODIs. India is sorely missing a good pace attack in the ODIs with Zaheer and Umesh being rested atleast for some matches and Aaron being injured. The selectors seem to have forgotten that Australian ODIs are not run fests but need a good pace attack with wicket taking quicks to win matches consistently. PK is not a strike bowler in the ODIs.
express bowling Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Its a myth' date='He has been struggling for last 2 years. But some how he is not in the limelight.[/quote'] In our country there is a belief that anybody who bowls medium pace is automatically accurate. The truth is that PK has been very ordinary in ODIs and a much better test bowler so far.

daryl1985 Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Praveen has had a lot of injuries in the last 12-15 months so it is hard to be too critical of him.
singhprakash72 Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 I wouldn't play him if he is not 100% ready. I mean Perth was really a good track were he should have bowled his heart, but apart from his 120Kph long hops he had nothing to offer. His batting and fielding will surely be not missed and will be worth giving chance to Yadav or Pathan.
Show_stopper Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 I think on these pitches and also in general, we need to get Ishant back into our ODI scheme of things. Clearly he is neveer going to get enough wickets in a test match. And with him having regained his pace (was seriously missing for a huge part of his prev ODI stint) we can expect him to do a good job in LOIs like he did in our previous CB series campaign. 2015 WC is to be held in Aus...so if Ishant can establish himself in the ODI unit by then we will have a superb bowling attack.
Yoda-esque Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 OK-Lets just make a generic rule, shall we ? "Nobody who has failed for more than 2 games in succession deserves to be in the team"
MCcricket Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 PK looks decent in only conducive environment, he is mediocre, generally bowls 125 to 129 k, cannot bowl with oldish ball, Irfan , Umesh, Nechim, Gony , Dinda, Varun, these should be our regulars in ODI, EVEN VK TO ME IS A BETTER BOWLER THEN HIM.
BERGKAMP Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 PK only plays because he has some embarrassing photos of Dhoni and will expose them to the world if he is dropped. He has also given one or two to VK.
Magneto Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 PK only plays because he has some embarrassing photos of Dhoni and will expose them to the world if he is dropped. He has also given one or two to VK. Are those photos of Dhoni and Jaddu in compromising positions? :cantstop:
