Chandan Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Dont rate him highly. India has the knack for making average bowlers (like Mike Whitney) great. The key lies in consistency and Anderson has not shown it historically. Another flash in the pan who will be sorted out soon by other batting lineups that have the stomach for a fight. Agree. Consistency is the key. Can Anderson bowl this good in two matches consecutively? If he can bowl this well or even 75% of what he bowled here in every test from now on, he can be a certain high class bowler!
gs Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Indian cricketers have a unique gift of making mediocre players look great - they have resurrected careers of numerous 'failures'
observer1 Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Well, with Anderson, at least you KNOW he cant bat. With Agarkar, isnt it, ad nauseaum, people like Shastri saying ' he can wield the willow', ' he has a 100', 'he isnt exactly a novice' - I cant recollect more than one meaningful innings he has played for India against a non-minnow.
King Tendulkar Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 he is average, this track is pefect for swing and seam bowlers. On other tracks he can be toothless
observer1 Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 He does bowl some unplayable deliveries. But i dont rate him ahead of Harmy' date=' Flintoff, Hoggard & Jones. Its sad that our overhyped batting superstars cannot even navigate a 2nd string English attack.[/quote'] Give Anderson helpful conditions and he is unplayable - better than Hoggard, Jones, Flintoff and Harmison. Give him a bright sunny day, a hard pitch, and he will bowl garbage - his strength, the full length ball, becomes his weakness.
Gambit Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 I've always liked him since his spell against Pak in the '03 world cup and his hattrick against the same opposition later that year. He had never impressed in test cricket though, until yesterday. His spell was terrific.
The Outsider Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 It's GKD dairy special announcement. Corrected, again.
Predator_05 Posted July 22, 2007 Author Posted July 22, 2007 Give him a bright sunny day' date=' a hard pitch, and he will bowl garbage - his strength, the full length ball, becomes his weakness.[/quote'] He routed India with a 4 wicket haul on a dead Mumbai pitch last year.
The Outsider Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 He routed India with a 4 wicket haul on a dead Mumbai pitch last year. Huh? what were you watching? Mumbai was swinging from day 1 to day 5.
Predator_05 Posted July 22, 2007 Author Posted July 22, 2007 Huh? what were you watching? Mumbai was swinging from day 1 to day 5. There was a bit of bounce, but not much else in it for the bowlers on day 5. Harbhajan Singh said as much after day 4
The Outsider Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 There was a bit of bounce' date=' but not much else in it for the bowlers on day 5. Harbhajan Singh said as much after day 4[/quote'] I don't give a $hit about what Harbhajan said. I saw the ball swinging on all 5 days. Do you remember all those catches which went down on the first day were off pacers? Or even on the 5th day, the gem that Flintoff produced to get Dravid was swinging?
Sir_Afridi Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 10 overs for 91 runs today. Leader of the pack cant even defend 334 runs. Overrated bowler heavily dependent on overcast conditions. No wonder he averages 30+ in both forms of the game.
Serani Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Sir afridi your a retard. Just like.....afridi himself.
Sachin=GOD Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Sir afridi your a retard. Just like.....afridi himself. look who's talking :hysterical:
