CG Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Happened the last time as well. 2 washouts, a loss with bonus points conceded to the Aussies, a loss to Sl as well..8 points after 5 matches, SL were at 6 after 5 matches. But we did turn it around in the later stages first against the Lankanas and then vs the Aussies. Having said that, we cannot afford another slip up vs the Lankans in the next match. Have to win it somehow and get the 4 points. In that series Australia was the best side and srilanka had no hope of beating them,so it was srilanka vs india .But here srilanka looks like beating any side .

Tapioca Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 6. Now that things have reached the current stage, how to ease SRT out of the team without him or BCCI/selectors/fans suffering a massive loss of face. I am not even talking Tests where we are faced with whole bunch of problems but am focusing on odis. Granted we are much better at odis than Tests (away) but there are plenty of issues that have come up during this tri-series...

Team India and us fans will pay the price for his selfishness
Iconoclast Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Biggest issue facing Indian cricket is money ... BCCI more interested in making it than making a better team.
Ultimate_Game Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 Biggest issue facing Indian cricket is money ... BCCI more interested in making it than making a better team. Both go hand in hand... I can say the reason India started doing well since 2000 was a stronger economy resulting in more money in the game. India may hit a bump or two but overall will have a decent team coz of the money which will attract more talent. After all you can't argue with a WC, getting no. 1 ranking in Tests, T20 Cup, Asia Cups, Champions Trophy etc. which have all happened in the last 10 years.
Sarkar Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Biggest issue facing Indian cricket is money ... BCCI more interested in making it than making a better team. Well we cant rely on playing with Likes of Zimbo Kenya Bdesh without India ICC doesnt run 60% of revenue is given to them.
anotherhawkeye Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 The post above you said 'score' quickly...pathan can do the later (do something quick like get out in 4 balls), but not the former (like score 30s and 40s at good strike rate ).
Lurker Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 ^^ He is another of those overblown, super hyped player.
amiret Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Some personnel changes are definitely necessary ,but quite a few of the posters are understandably referencing the CB series of 2008 , forgetting that we have lost an ODI series at home 4-2 to Australia since that tour. What is wrong with this team ? Not much. i would say we are a very good ODI team , just not good enough to consistently beat Australia home or away.
Androcottus Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Yadav and Zaheer should open our bowling as they're our strike bowlers.
Ultimate_Game Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 Yadav and Zaheer should open our bowling as they're our strike bowlers. Not sure about Zaheer anymore. In this series Vinay has looked the best with the new ball and has generally picked up early wkts. I say let Vinay and Umesh open the bowling and Zak can try reverse swinging it in the middle and end overs.
The Realist Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 There's no hunger or fight in this team apart from the all the glaring problems already listed. The same tired failures get endlessly recycled and there is certainly a clique of Dhoni & friends who are always selected no matter what. This team is going nowhere fast, it full of mediocrity and unathletic middle aged has-beens.
Deleted_User_1 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Why you guys wasting your times! This Indian team is shyt and will be for some time. Actually I will be glad if this team does not qualify for the finals!
prashsenga Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 The reason is simple.. IPL money means zero motivation.. i play one month of sub standard cricket and make 9 crores a year.. why should i be bothered aout perfomance on the field... yesterday i was reading about manpreet gony making a cool 2 crores a year thanks to IPL.. good for him.. but does he deserve that much.. hell no !! we are rewarding mediocrity with ludicrous amounts.... if i were in their shoes i wouln't want to overexert myself as i dont want to get injured and would want to play IPL.. why doesn't sehwag's back spasm come up during IPL.. i can bet that he would now take a long brek to be fully fit for IPL and then start smacking third rate trundlers outta 60 yard boundaries in india and we all will be indulging in this mediocrity slugfest..
Robelinda Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Why you guys wasting your times! This Indian team is shyt and will be for some time. Actually I will be glad if this team does not qualify for the finals! Hah, i didnt even think about that, India hasnt missed the finals of a tri series here for a long time, 99/00 I think? Before that I think 1980/81 maybe.....

But overall the team selection and the senior players have generally let the team down.
CG Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 ^^ He is another of those overblown' date=' super hyped player.[/quote'] Anybody who can win us games from 100-5 agianst nz should be hyped and anybody who can beat the hell out of bowling attack as good as sa in their own conditions from a no hope situation should b overhyped.
Sidhoni Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 1. Yuvi may not play intl cricket again and he's not here in this series 2. Sehwag is so unfit that if he dives in a match he gets back spasms and is ruled out for 4 games, and I did say without Sehwag in OP. Raina is the only one batsman who could score quick runs if required as there were no Sehwag and Yuvi in the team. I think we need to find a couple of batsmen who can score quickly as Yuvi may not come back and Sehwag will not last long. Yuvi will definitely play again for us and u did mention Yuvi somewhere in the OP. We also have Raina & Dhoni.

I mentioned Yuvi in OP in the context that we are missing him in the series as without Sehwag and Yuvi in the team we don't have enough batting firepower.
