At the end of the day it's about results on the field coz if it was all baout aesthetics and how good a player looks' date=' Manjrekar would have been streets ahead of Sehwag.[/quote'] True... Tomorrow's match will be crucial for Umesh and rumors are that Vinay won't play due to injury so Umesh might get new ball

u might as well compare umesh to virat kohli if u see no difference between his & vinay's bowling .
Those are cold stats. Umesh looking good and bowling thunderbolts doesn't equate to picking wickets and doing well (in terms of performance) on the field. Good for him if he improves, but if he carries on with that kind of stats for another 20 matches, he's not really going anywhere.

statistics are just like mini-skirts, they give you good ideas but hide the most important thing. let me give an example, dale styen in england averages 63 in ODI with 6.5 economy, Brett lee averages 61 in test in india. if i too had this numbnut thinking of looking at somebody's stat at one place then i would have never guessed that these guys were great players.

You really think UY has been terrific in ODIs? :giggle: And did I present UY's and VK's comparitive stats in one place/tournament? I simply presented their overall career averages till now. Would be better for you if you see the point I am making, rather that repeat super-cliched quote on 'statistics'. Being a fanboy should not take you away from the real facts.

and another lame attempt to prove something' date=' why u try so hard bro.[/quote'] Okay, let's go through what's being discussed. I posted Yadav's overall stats to point out that Yadav has not been great at ODIs. You agreed to that, (later), but still felt the compulsion to say that stats prove nothing, specially when they are selective. I pointed out that the stats I posted were not of a selective nature, they were Yadav's overall career stas and simply reflect the fact the Yadav has been pretty poor in ODIs till now (and Vinay Kumar has done better). What was your logical response after this? You don't have a point, so the only response you've had is to dance around in the tune of 'U iz lame, U iz lame'. Why waste my time if you don't want to debate in an informed, coherent manner?

Those out-of-context examples of Dale Steyn and Brett Lee were lamer. Meant nothing, stated nothing.

Umesh is certainly very fast and talented but I am afraid he is leaking too many runs. Even in the test matches he was giving away 5-6 RPO and unless he brings that under control, I would not pass anything on his immense utility to the team. Hopefully he will improve in the coming days.
