chainsmoker1985 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Umesh Yadav last 3 innings figures: 14 feb 2012 vs Sri Lanka- 0/51 in 9 overs 19 feb 2012 vs Australia- 0/46 in 7 overs 21 feb 2012 vs Sri-Lanka today- 1/58 in 8 overs. These figures are on Australian pitches and has not bowled his quota of 10 overs in 3 consecutive games. So, what was a 'FIND' of the tour just a few days ago(mainly because of his pace) has now suddenly turned into another big failure now. It makes anyone wonder why does it happen to Indian bowlers only or 9 out of 10 times. Many would call it an inexperience of Umesh Yadav but he has played enough first class games, 26 first class games to be exact and 28 List A matches. So he has enough experience with pace behind it. But this is not the story of one odd bowler from India. Its the same story with almost every genuine quick coming out of India. Whereas I won't go into other countries bowlers but here are few examples where the likes of Marchant De Lange, or James Pattinson or Doug Bracewell coming into international cricket and bowls with so much authority and dominance. James Pattinson and Mitchell Starc has been continuously making the mockery of great Indian batting this Australian summer. Whereas DeLange picked up 8 wickets on his test debut against SL and won the match on his own. Doug Bracewell forced Australia to raise a white flag at Hobart. On the other hand, India, a country of over 1 billion where some people say, there would never be a shortage of genuine quick bowlers but when it comes to grooming them, guiding them, utilizing their ability, we have the 3rd class board and on top of that, our captain, who keeps his only genuine quick back, till half the innings is over. There was no shortage of commitment from our other genuine quick and experienced bowler Ishant Sharma and there was no such shortage of commitment from Umesh Yadav either. Actually the problem is everywhere in our system who seriously have no idea how to make the most of these rare commodities 'Fast Bowlers'. So, the moral of the story is- We won't get the bowlers from the heaven who can save us. The fast bowlers will keep coming and keep getting rattled by the oppositions like they have been so far. When it is the same story with our every genuine quick bowler from India, we need to change our approach and thinking. And most importantly, our board needs to take some firm steps to groom all these young quicks who are coming through from India.

Whereas other teams with Broad, Morkels and Pattinson are making most of their fast bowling talents. I will give enough opportunities to Umesh Yadav and keep giving opportunities after opportunities. He is one of the rarest talent coming out of India in many decades. We have to be more wise and patience with Umesh Yadav

Just dont like the phaasht bolling fanatics making excuses and blaming everyone else but himself when he doesnt do well.

It is just pity to see only Indian genuine quicks are being thrashed all around the park

I am with Yadav and I think he needs a good guidance and he needs to be handled properly Umesh is an excellent raw material but he is not bowling to a plan. That part is true and he needs to learn that. Brett Lee has worked with James Pattinson to make him better. McDermott has been teaching probing and consistent line and length to the young Aussie quicks whose natural tendency was to bang the ball halfway down. Look at how an ordinary Peter Siddle has suddenly become unplayable by bowling accurately at high pace. Umesh also needs guidance and needs to improve. No question of him being written off but it is true that we are not grooming our fast bowling talent and making best use of them.
