Which of these games we should have won?

Match 1: Opposition needed 127 off last 15 overs with 8 wickets in hand Match 2: Opposition needed 128 off last 15 overs with 7 wickets in hand Match 3: Opposition needed 124 off 15 with 9 wickets in hand.

All 3 games are comparable. We happen to lost two of them and win one by just few runs. but one of them is most disgraceful lose LOL... infact in one of the game, Sachin did score 100 at fair clip even then we scored 30 runs less. When opposition has asing rate of 8 rpo, its like 20-20 game from there on, bowlers have to bowl sensiblly, its bowlers game to lose, batsman should not be crucified.

well, if Ind had batted well, the 'opposition' would have had to chase around 150 (at 10 an over) which is a different prospect than what you have listed .... why this is disgraceful is because the slow batting put Ind in to the kind of position where the opposition needed to those 'easy' equations Also your analogy with T20 is wrong as in ODIs there is a batting pp, which the batting team can take with set batsman at the crease. Also the bowlers have more overs to bowl (vs shorter spells in T20s). There are more opportunities to take singles and settle down as well w/o much risk

so you are saying when team is chasing 128 in 90 deliveries, they should take singles?? now thats funny. Exactly opposite happened, Rahim new man, started to hit sixes. LOL. when you have 38 difference between ball and runs you don't take singles, you take your chances, sometimes it pays and sometiems it doesn't. again you are saying if sachin had gotten out earlier or take more chances we would have scored more, thats again hypothetical situation. we scored more than the par score. As per experts who have played cricket the pitch was slower than the one we played against Lanka and 260-270 was good score on this pitch. We scored 290..

@OP, you are missing the main point. Issue is not that we lost but how we lost. In other games we gave our best and I can live with it. But in today's game one of our batsmen deliberately put his interests ahead of the team costing us runs and a win. It's "putting oneself before the team" part we are upset about and not just the loss.

You dont get it do ya. When you try your level best to win but lose' date=' fans wont get that mad. But here if you have one eye on your milestone, its hard to give the best for your team. Anyone who has played any kind of organized sport will attest to that.[/quote'] Sir in all those situation I gave you, we scored decent total, once you have total on board, its your bowliing that has to defend it, if they have bad day, you don't blame batsman who actually gave you par + score. Ppl keep saying oh because our bowling is weak we need cushion on 20 runs. Well totally wrong, you won't win the games if you go with that mindset, we tried that in world cup, failed big time, scoring those 20-30 runs made sure we ended up around par score. Captain needs to understand, you need to attack to take wickets, you need to identify bowlers who can take wicket in middle overs. Whenever wicket fails our skipper always brings in part timer in order to get some overs out of them when new batsman settle. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Dhoni needs to attack with Ashwin and probably with Rahul Sharma (Hope he gets the game) Thats were pakistan are so good, they take wickets in those middle overs. During world cup we had same issues, our bowling was below par. We had to sort that out, we did not change the bowling attack as such, just brought Ashwin in as 2nd spinner. He did wonders against Aussies in Q/F. Captain needs to give the confidence to the bowlers, If bowlers are ***** scared they can't do much. Dinda was making comeback, under hell lot of pressure, he may not play another game here, PK looks out of form, so he is under pressure, only Pathan has been okayish, so when your two main bowlers are under pressure, captain has to handle them well. Dinda is wicket taking bowler so he needs to be used as one.

So even Gambhir and Kohli did that right?? Their partnership never upped the Ante, it was Raina and dhoni who scored 65 in 5 overs. Probably we don't knw what they discuss in team meetings and what their strategy is..

With no good death-overs bowler , while defending you can't leave it for too late. Need to take wickets and attack in early overs.

I am pretty sure scoring 22 runs off 40 deliveries in PP and slog overs with 8-9 wickets in hand cannot be part of any sane team meeting or strategy.

How did you come up with that..when do slog overs start?? Power play over 36th, sachin 2 balls - 1 run 37th over, 1 ball 1 run 38th over 1 ball 1 run 39th over 3 balls 1 run 40th over 5 runs off 3 balls (he takes his chances goes inside out) 41st over 3 runs of 4 balls 42nd over 1 run of 4 balls 43rd over 0 off 2 balls 44th over 2 off 2 balls 45th over 10 off 4 balls 46th over 2 off 2 balls 47th over 1 off 2 balls ( he gets out on that 2nd ball) thats 27 runs off 30 runs in that period.. Raina was going well all I can see as sachin giving him the strike during those powerplays..
