Thank You Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar for..

If we had created thread for each and every century of his your point is valid. And secondly desired target would have been 250 if not for "new to the crease" Raina's onslaught. But guy who had spent 35 overs was still taking singles in the power play leaving the hitting to someone who was just new to the crease.. that charade continued till 43rd over. We are supposed to believe that pitch was very very tough only for sachin not for Raina and also pitch becamse easier to bat on after his century.. Gotta see the curator and award him a nobel prize for designing a pitch that was difficult only for Tendulkar till he got his 100.
So you (and the world) want to judge these pros based on numbers and milestones, and then not expect them to be a bit cautious nearing some, sometimes? Thanks for the perfect example of hypocrisy. Not to mention, selectively filtering the numbers to suit your agenda. e.o.d on this topic from my side, you may now collect your the certificate of integrity from the great outsider himself.

Check the post-match presentation. Sachin Tendulkar said he wanted Dhoni to take the strike.
If that is true, even better. So their collective judgement and then execution worked well. Ain't that a win-win situation?

"bit cautious" is an understatement in sachin's case. It was ultra-cautious against an average bowling side with one of their bowler missing. That is why it is not right to compare because sachin himself has slowed down in lot of his century innings which nobody really bothered about. You have to seeh the whole context of the match and how his slowness contributed to India's defeat in a major way. 147 balls he consumed.. almost half the overs. with 20 overs power play on a flat ptich tell me it is a good score.. 25 overs score of 114 runs for a guy like Sachin. Not using any filters here. Just tell me if this is an acceptable scoring rate.

In this case, it did work well. Moreover, we were well above the par score hence, didn't matter much. PS - Just to clarify my earlier post, Sachin meant he wasn't really thinking about the 200 and decided to give MS Dhoni the strike in the end overs to push for quick runs.

You are going around in circles, recycling same arguments that have already been countered ( with numbers and examples). So, as I said. eod from my side. Don't forget to gold-plate the certificate of integrity.

you countered nothing.. your arguments are very flimsy.. You couldn't come up with a reason why Tendulkar made only 17 runs between 30th and 40th overs.. All you do is.. Kohli did it... so Tendulkar should also do even though there are huge differences in the way they constructed their innings. In other words.. if Kohli is selfish, Tendulkar has the right to be 100 times more selfish.

Akshay, Just a final word from my side on this argument (or Sachin vs rest in general). There are some various 'types' of fans [1] Mindless Bashing [2] Mindless Followers [3] Astute Critics Lets not forget that Tendulkar, like any other cricketer is fallible. He's less fallible than most other cricketers. However, if a fan praises him for his humbleness/modestly and great contribution to the game as well as criticize Tendulkar for some aspect, I wouldn't get emotional about it and start throwing missiles at other opinions. Therefore, it's better to change the 'tone' of arguments for different types of fans/posters else the discussion turns into hell. I hope you understand where I come from. Cheers mate! :drinks:

He is taking out his anger with outy on me :cantstop: . Hence he ignores the obvious shortcomings of the innings in question. If Tendulkar's each and every century had such kind of criticism he could say there is some underlying reason which is not the case here. He is putting everything in one basket.

VVS, Please take the mature role here too and lets end this argument. Lets :drinks: at EOD and enjoy the game. Looking forward to a cracking Indo-Pak final with Tendulkar scoring a 'desert storm' 100. :drinks: Even Akshay would agree to this! :two_thumbs_up:

Since I enjoyed talking to you. you deserve at least one response on this. I have very limited emotions (hence might come across as rude at times, many times fake too :D), I just like to debate on stuff involving numbers, philosophy and stuff I know well. As for throwing missiles - I am fallible too :), mostly due to context built over time, and rarely initiated from my side. enuff for now. see you around.

Don't make a mistake of judging me based on what I type (and I am not making either). I can reply to this all, but as I said. EOD for now.

I'll answer this if you answer following two questions in one word each? 1. Who had better strike rate outside their respective 90's, Kohli/Sachin? 2. Who had lower strike rate when their 90's, Kohli/Sachin.

I am sorry man.. i never said he was slow only in the 90s.. i have said it many times. He was very slow for a sustained period when India needed quick runs. In Virat's case he never dropped his strike rate below 100 after certain point. As long as you maintain a strike rate of 100 you are good.

1st 50 in 63 balls, 2nd 50 in 77 balls 1st 50 in 52 balls, 2nd 50 in 43 balls And we are debating who slowed down for a 100? The 1st one is a rare instance of a batsman taking more balls to get to his 2nd 50.

haha Any one who saw that match knows it was an innings which was played by putting team's interest on the line.Comical to see some people defending that "pathetic" innings with such confidence.:cantstop:

This is just plain pathetic....if any other opener got a quick 50 we dont open a thread for them when someone else scores 183. The Sachin love some people have is a sickness.
