Khaleja Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Unhappy with Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal's bowling action, senior Indian cricketers have reportedly complained to the International Cricket Council (ICC), sources said. Sources said that senior players feel that Ajmal chucks while bowling. Recently, Ajmal ignited a controversy over his bowling action in an interview to BBC in which he claimed that the ICC had given him special permission to straighten his arm beyond the allowed 15 degrees. The PCB and ICC later clarified that no latitude had been given to the Pakistani spinner. The 34-year-old off-spinner had claimed that the ICC has allowed him extra leniency, up to 23.5 degrees. As per the ICC rules a bowler can only straighten his arm up to 15 degrees, beyond which his action will be deemed illegal. "I don't know about my bowling action, but somebody was telling me your action is bad. ICC has allowed me 23.5 because my arm is not good because of an accident, that is why a problem," Ajmal had told BBC television recently. "Otherwise no problem, straightaway cleared by ICC." His bowling action, reported by match officials during a one-day series against Australia in 2009 before it was cleared after remedial work by experts, once again came under suspicions following his career-best 7-55 in the first Test against England, played in Dubai. Former England pacer Bob Willis raised suspicions over his 'doosra' (second one) -- a ball which turns the other way than a normal off-break -- while England coach Andy Flower said he has his own opinion and left the matter to the ICC. India crushed Pakistan by six wickets in their Asia Cup clash in Mirpur on Sunday with Virat Kohli hitting a magnificent 183. The Pakistan bowler has a bagful of tricks, he deceives batsmen with his flight and guile, and the latest addition to his repertoire is the teesra. Unlike the doosra, which goes the other way, it goes straight after pitching, with the batsmen playing for the turn. Ajmal used it brilliantly in the Test matches against England and even in the first game of the Asia Cup, he brought the delivery into play to win Pakistan a tight game against Bangladesh. With the demands of instant cricket in mind, a spinner constantly has to work on variations. Ajantha Mendis brought the carom ball to the game but it got a little too predictable after a point of time and the Sri Lankan bowler went on lose his place in the team. Sachinism Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 There is no way, any could with a straight face tell me that his action is legit. Its ****ing absurd, he definitely needs to be tested again. But then again ICC have allowed chuckers in the past, don't really expect any action from them.

According to a television report, Indian cricketers have raised their concern over the bowler's action after their stupendous six-wicket victory over arch rivals Pakistan in the Asia Cup match on Sunday. BCCI officials, however, did not confirm whether the team had raised objections over Ajmal's action. Chasing a victory target of 330, India rode on a superb batting display by young Virat Kohli to overwhelm their opponents with more than two overs to spare. "We do whatever protocol allows us to do and let us not forget that the match officials, the umpires are entitled to call any bowler, who has got a suspect action," said the ICC CEO, Haroon Lorgat. "In Saeed Ajmal's case we have tested him, we have monitored him even in the live situations, he bowls within the allowed degree of tolerance. So there isn't any issue with him," Lorgat told a news channel. The CEO said there is always a difference between what we see and what we perceive. "We need to be careful about what the eye sees and what the reality is. You are allowed to bowl with an arm that you don't straighten in the course of action and he is well within the degrees of tolerance", he said. The 34-year-old Ajmal has been in the midst of a controversy over his action, and just before the Asia Cup the English cricketers had also raised their concern about the bowler. He later claimed that he had a special dispensation from the game's governing body to straighten his arm beyond the allowed 15 degrees. Ajmal, during an interview to an English media house, after Pakistan's 3-0 Test win over England in the UAE, had claimed, "ICC has allowed me 23.5 because my arm is not good because of an accident, that is why a problem." And those who say he chucks certain deliveries sp his doosra and that too from tv, high time u guys started playing cricket coz not even tendulkar cud do it from just 22 yards away.
