Last time we were knocked out of a tourney by B'desh and Loins combo...

things didn't turn out that bad  Back in 2007 India lost to B'desh and SL to be knocked out of the WC tourney and look how our fortunes changed since. We ended up winnin the T20 Cup, Asia Cup, CB Series, World Cup and also reaching the pinnacle in Test cricket. If the history repeats itself I am more than happy to be in a position we are in today :two_thumbs_up:

In Tests, all the Fab 4 were still around and quite young. Besides, we never got whitewashed like this during the 2006-07 season. I hope that is not the beginning of a slow slide downwards.

Nothing like a loss to Bangladesh eh? Just the tonic India needs
Revenge is a dish best serve cold. But even before your memories start to cool down, we smack your ass with new one. :haha:

How is that relevant to my statement?:hmmm: I was merely adding to what the OP was saying

Not really. We lost to Bangladesh due to Sachin's innings which is okay with me. This is probably the one and only time 100 centuries will come (compared to the 5-6 times we have won the Asia Cup) and I am happy with it even if it means a loss to Bangladesh and getting knocked out of the tournament. Now Sachin has become freer and is playing like the 2008-2009-2010 SAchin as was seen in the match with you guys. Problem would have been if the 100th 100 had not happened (irrespective of match results). This would have affected his test games in the coming few months and with Dravid retired we don't need a nervous under pressure Sachin. Now thankfully we don't have to. This Asia cup loss means we'll more in the future.

Don't think so. We will always have more than enough talent. Even now batting wise we have blokes like Kohli, Rohit, Rahane, Pujara etc. who will do fine over the next few years, and in bowling we are unearthing likes of Umesh. We should be fine as our poor performances of late was not really due to lack of talent but more due to lack of balls with respect to making the changes. That's why we continued playing someone like VVS even though it was clear that he was struggling big time.

Also Sachin - just wait and watch how he bats now he's done with the bogey of his back. He was the best batsman in the world in the 2008-2009-2010 period.

Real test is when we tour overseas. Nobody really stood out in OZ. Dravid was the lone warrior in England. Lot of our inadequacies will be exposed only on tours like that.

Completely disagree :nono: Team is supposed to be bigger than any player. The game is played to win, not to go after personal milestones. What's done is done and IMO it's time to look to the future. SRT should move on from odis and maybe play for a year or so in Tests, and laxman has to go now. We have likes of Rohit, Rahane, Pujara, Mukund and Tiwary waiting on the sidelines. There's enough talent and if we don't give them a run I don't know when :dontknow: Already Rohit's been on the sidelines way too long and should have been given a run in the team by now.

Bud Tendulkar is 39 and on his last legs. The next oversea tour is 2 years away and I don't expect him to be there by that time. It's up to the selectors to show whether they have the balls to back youngsters or take the easy route by letting SRT and laxman carry on for another 2 years at home leaving the team in a lurch before another overseas tour.

I now think that India will win the T20 World Championship this year. :nervous:
High time they won something coz they have been cr@p for a year now across all formats. In fact if you take away Kohli 100s we have had absolutely nothing to shout about since the WC

We do have the England ODI whitewash at home. :D That was fun. Also Viru's 219!

He's still playing well. If he can he will prolly play next overseas tours. He's 38 btw. So maybe can continue till 40-41. Unlike Ricky and Rahul who were in bad touch for a long time he was playing extremely well till the 99th remember.

Ashwin century. Ishant's supposed resurgence as he led us to another series win in Indies (something Pakis couldn't do again) Gayle in IPL Kohli's chases in CLT20

He'll be 39 in April which means 1-2 years at max.

Let's see. If last year was due to 100th 100 pressure and he can go back to his 2010 form no problems in him playing for a while. If it was age catching up he'll go.
