MAybe Tendulkar had problems but never against Akhtar. Akhtar did the Calcutta' date=' that was all. Heck, Pathan has a better record against MoYo.[/quote'] Point taken. I'm glad to finally see a rational Sachin fan around.

Difference is RP swung us to victory while Amir ... :winky:
It was not his fault that he was playing with joke batsmen. RP had some all time greats batting for his team. DM bhai what's with the bitterness man.

Where have you been all this time :dontknow: There are plenty others like vvslaxman, Lurker, Outsider, mcenley, ravishingravi etc. I mean go to Bradman Vs SRT thread or the one where some people were criticising Tendulkar's knock against B'desh in Asia Cup, and you will see plenty of those around.

Sachin struggled(got out) more against trundlers in his career than fast bowlers.
True that! I saw SRT strugle more against trundlers like Cronje or newbies. I thnk one of the reason for the same is that SRT put too much pressure on himself against these bowlers. It was almost like he says to himself "Right! I can't get out against this cr@ppy bowler" and used to go into his shell. Tendulkar looks the best when he's attacking and vulnerable when he's simply trying to survive either against a particular bowler or when he's trying to play for Lunch/Tea/new ball. IMO if SRT had a different attitude against the part-timers/trundlers/newbies, maybe something similar to Sehwag's, where instead of thinking about the negatives and not getting out to them, he had focused more on them as an easy run-scoring opportunity he would have been more successful against them and wouldn't have made Cronje look like a world beater or even Paul Harris look like Lord Harris.

That's to be expected on an Indian Cricket forum, and even otherwise in India as you would expect majority of Indian fans to be die hard Tendulkar fans.

Its like Manchester United. People support it only coz it is the cool thing to do and because it is winning. Same is the case with Sachin. Even when we have/had a gem of a player like Rahul Dravid, we still are over-obsessing about Sachin. Yeah, he's good. But honestly, I'll pick Rahul Dravid over him any day of the week.

There's a difference between struggle and getting out. Virat Kohli finally got out to somebody the other day. Does it mean he's struggling. Shoaib averaged 31 when Tendu was playing. Tendu avgs 45 vice versa. Can see who's struggling. Also his records against India are very mediocre post 2000 when we had a good team (test avg of 42 and odi avg of 30). even his overall test avg is 31 (just played the one match in 90s so couldn't cash in on ss das, nayan mongia, ramesh etc) bt due to constant sharjah matches in the 90s his overall odi avg against india is decent. post 2000s all i remember of shoaib is him getting tonked all around the park - by srt, dhoni, viru, yuvi, ganguly heck didn't he have to go to the hospital in one of the 07 tests because of all the phaintying.

Dravid was great and in fact he was responsible for some of our greatest overseas wins in early 2000s (Adelaide, Rawalpindy, Headingley, test against WI where he was the only one to cross 50 etc.) but on the whole he wasn't in the same ball-park as Tendulkar. Dravid's peak was for comparatively short time and when not at his peak Dravid couldn't score too many runs. Tendulkar even when he wasn't at his peak managed to score runs and in odis SRT was streets ahead.

Sachin has done well against Akhtar in pyjama format where bowler have so many restrictions. In real format, Sachin failed against Akhtar averaging only 41 despite playing on dead asian wickets. At home, Sachin averages in 30s against Akhtar with no century. Good to see Pakistan fastest bowler tamed India best batsman in test cricket.

In real format Sachin got out to Akhtar only 3 times in 15-16 innings.

That doesnt changes the fact that Sachin has ordinary record against Akhtar. One of few blots on Sachin sublime career.

Sohaibs delivery in Calcutta 1999 was special. But don't know if that altered the game. Not for cheating run out, India was winning. What I do remember is fastest baller taken out of attack by his own captain at Centurion. That in itself should give Shohaib nightmares. I have followed SRT since he started his International career and of all the knocks (Sharjah, 200, 241 at sydney), Centurion was the best.

Good to see SS Das, Ramesh, Wasim Jaffer etc taming so called phaaaaaaaaast bowlers in test cricket.

Sachin has an avg of 41 which is good (not great). Shoaib has avg of 34, Waqar has avg of 50. This is downright bad. Only Wasim (29) has a decent record - same as Sachin's batting avg.

According to me the Pakistani bowler that really made SRT nervous (specially in ODIs) was Abdur Razzak more than Akhtar Mian ...he had something in his bowling (off stump line) that would make SRT edge or get bowled/LBW most of the time....we just tend to make a contest out of SRT vs Akhtar because one was Great Batsman and other fastest bowler of his time.

Akhtar is overhyped. He hasn't even played 50 tests. He's like Vinod Kambli of Pakistan.

Sachin was taken by surprise while facing him first time. But no doubt great delivery. LOL @DM Vinod Kambli of Pakistan. :hysterical:
