^^ haan I heard that. In my family only my Mom knows swimming, perhaps because she is a North Bihari. Still claims she can save atleast two of us in flood :D(which would explain why I try to be on her good side!)

I reckon this is a good place for a lot of knowledgable folks to hang around both in terms of sport and the general stuff. I've learnt something new every day on this forum and this forums has taught me how to deal with people with different opinions. This website has also helped me understand different POV and there is a sense of beloging to this website. I have to say I didn't envisage a community this good when we first put together the website.
Its true for the few months I was away from ICF.com I came back and saw many many more members they seem to grow by the day.

Thanks and ..nice to know that! I will add that now. You know the couplet from where it is taken is actually a dialogue between Sri Rama and Laxmana in Valmiki Ramayan. Complete couplet is more interesting --- "Api Swarnamyi Lanka, Na Me Laxman Shobhate Janani Janmabhoomisch Swargadapi gariyasi" Translation: O! Laxman that Golden Lanka is not dear to me as Ayodhya for mother and motherland are dearer than even heaven! And this Sri Ram said after conquering Goledn Lanka.
Beautiful couplet there. I never read the balimiki ramayan in sanskrit. sounds like good read . Though must have read ramcharitmanas of tulsidas 100's of times . Sundarkand particualrly used to be part of daily reading after ablution.

More members, more POVs and more knowledge. There are trolls but usually less of that sort. Some are so knowledgeable on the general side of things it is an embarrassment for a commoner like me. I usually do not post much on the general discussions forums but read fair bit of it.

Does anyone here have a feeling of 'belonging' when on this site? Do you think there is a sense of community and ownership on this site? Or is it just a decent 'time pass' when there is nothing better to do?
Of course i feel a sense of belonging towards this site. I've been here from the beginning (well, almost...) from the time there were approx 100 members, been through numerous discussions, and most importantly, i have been witness to the site's remarkable growth - like how a parent watches his kid grow (as stupid as that sounds). So naturally, i have an emotional attachment to it. Sense of community ? Absolutely. Look at how openly people on this forum are able to discuss things with another. Very informal, very casual...it's a decent atomosphere. What i like most about many members is how they don't always hold back. If they think you are talking crap, they will say as much. I appreciate that sincerity, and it livens up most discussions.

I enjoy browsing this forum....have been here since it started and look forward to reading the views of lot of witty and intelligent posters here.It would be sure fun to actually meet many of you.Even though I do not post or debate a lot,I think do feel some sense of belonging here.

Yes it is definitely a community here. Some of the discussion i have had here , i havent had even with some of my best friends. I am not averse to letting out personal information in this forum , cause i feel personal interaction adds to the fun, but ofcourse I know my limits as to where to stop. I have fun , fool around , crack jokes , pass comments when i can , but always made it a point to contribute what my intellect allows me to , since that is what enriches the discussion here. If my contribution helps to raise the standards of debating and knowledge of other posters , then i consider my job done. But I have learnt a lot too , just observing some of the going-ons here. This place rocks !

its more like a close knit family. There are clash of opinions but that is bound to happen with so many people around. I hope the interesting virtual personalities people here carry is reflected in their real life also.
