Then I need to arrange a one or two day trip from Kolkata to Gaya for the religious service for my late parents. Has anyone had experience going there? The questions I have is: 1. Are there flights to Gaya or do I have to fly into Patna and get a car? 2. Any decent hotels that caters to foreign tourists (I know folks from Far East must be visiting Bodh Gaya) 3. Is there any origanization I should go through for the Pind Daan services? I have been told that Gaya is a place of cheats and best to avoid random Pandas.

You can look for hotel at Gaya station. You will get it. 3. Yes you are quite right in that aspect. However there is no other alternative. So atleast take the price from 4 to 5 pandas. And yes don't pretend that you have come to Gaya first time. :icflove:

Aa kar.details deta hoon Gaya ka sab. A quick tip though. Almost all bengalis go through an organization called.Bharat.sewashram sangh. Look it up if u can. Baaki break be baad.

Plan around Durga Puja, good time to visit Bengal and Bihar. Also, look for the season of pitr-paksha, thats supposedly the best time for pind-daan. 1. Are there flights to Gaya or do I have to fly into Patna and get a car? Abbe haramkhor agar tum Patna mein utaroge to Gaya tak nahin pahoonchoge! Saara danger ilaaka raaste mein aayega, including Jehanabad. Ask Gambit he will tell you stories of Masauhi and Taregana. Aur aise bhi tum Bengali log major darte ho :hehe: (Asterix da ko chor ke of course :bow: ) Seriously though, there isnt any flights. You can get down at Patna and rent a car. But why not take Sealhah Express, or Rajdhani?? Seedha Gaya utaaregi 5-6 ghante mein Howrah se. Time dekh lena. Masti mein aao aur masti mein jaao. 2. And same distance from where you will go for pind-dan. So not sure it is helpful but you do get a few 3-4 stars hotels there including those owned by ITDC. Gaya Station ke paas there are a few decent hotels too, Ajatshatru karke ek hai. But yeah safety and comfort ke hissab se Bodh Gaya is much better option. 3. Actually I am inquiring with Bharat Sevashram and will go with them. Panda milenge to gNaar mein danda ghusa denge. Actually I would like to avoid train. That route scares me as I have hear many stories of robbery. Plus why waste time in traveling when I am in India for onlu 2 weeks. BTW, Kolkata around Durga Puja is a total mess. No thank you!!!!
