Pakistani Batting and The P word. This is what I wrote on another forum when everyone was getting excited after the warm up chase against Ind. I was hammered by most of the guys but I am afraid last game and esp this game so far has proved how we lack players who play well under pressure in LOIs. It was refreshing to see Pak chasing such a huge total with nearly an over to spare. What makes it even better was the fact that we were 90/5 and RR was 12 with 8 overs to go. I did not expect Kami and esp Malik to chase this score. Malik use to be good on flat wickets but has fallen cheaply at first sign of Pressure in last three years. Even Kamran would fail 9/10 when all we needed was a compact 30-40. So what was different today?Was it the ordinary bowling by Indian bowlers? Same bowling attack stopped us from getting easier equations in recent past. To me the key factor today was lack of pressure because it was a WARM UP game. Winning did not matter as much compared to an international game. Yes they wanted to win but in big scheme of things there was no pressure. Yes we should celebrate this fantastic chase but we should remember that this was a one off. I am afraid we will see these players fall like pack of cards at hint of Pressure. Playing under pressure is the key ingredient in winning at this level. I will be happy to be proven wrong but these heroes will be found out in pressure games chasing. Players like Malik will benefit from this as this meaningless run chase will prolong their career but Pakistan will lose out.

had sehwag dropped the catch, nasir wouldve come in and tried to consolidate, less dot balls bowled, and perhaps afridi would come later and slog

I am not talking about this game in isolation. It's an occurring theme with our batsman.
