What has IPL given to Indian cricket ?

IPL was a tournament organised to help domestic Indian talent. Now we are in its 5th season.Can any one please tell me atleast its 3 advantage to Indian cricket ? I hope this thread is not moved to IPL forum because this topic is related to Indian cricket.

Not too many positives I'm afraid. We have seen India slip in the T20s as well - the very format IPL is based on so what hope would be for being successful in other formats? So far the only thing i've seen is domestic bullies like Jadeja and Murali Vijay being fast-tracked to intl scene harming Indian team no end. We have seen stars like Zak, Sehwag and Gambhir injured in IPL and thereby not being available for Indian tours/matches. We have seen players being sated with IPL after earning millions and not caring too much about intl games. IPL has yet to throw up a demon fast bowler or a spin wizard, or even a batsman who can perform at intl level. So far the only player I've seen unearthed by IPL is Rahul Sharma who has only warmed the bench so far.

It helped economy,helped players who may not earn fraction of money which they should have earned in life time within short term.. more importnatly its became a highly enetrtaiming 2 months for people of India , a hangout for freinds for 3/4 hours without worrieng too much over very very finer detail.s of game.. What else you want ??

:facepalm: IPL have given several opportunities to young players and it does not their fault that those players fail on the bigger stage in the long term. And mind you, those names such as Jadeja, Vijay do have quality domestic record first so of course they deserved their chance in the team. And when for 30 years, we have no pace bowler, you suddenly expect IPL to bring out a new bowler. And let me remind you, definitely IPL is getting close to doing that as there are several exciting prospects such as Yadav, Varun, Kamran who are a good platform to show their talent. If you dislike IPL and think it as an evil thing, no one is telling you to watch it.

Warner was never part his state side, he was chosen to State's side based on IPL.Marsh got to Aussie team based on IPL. If he does not become super star it is not IPL's fault. IPL is chance for youngsters to show case their talent who otherwise would never get to play under bright lights. It is utter rubbish to expect unrealistic things from it. It is not a training academy.It is up to youngsters to seize the opportunity given to them. All any talented youngster want is a chance to show case his talent and IPL gives that chance.

Financial security to hundreds of domestic players who have cricket as the only means to support their families. Ask someone like Iqbal Abdulla, Shahbaz Nadeem, Asnodkar or Jakati what IPL means or what IPL has given to them. It has changed their lives as it has for countless other names who have got a chance to perform at a big stage after toiling hard for years without any rewards in domestic cricket. Besides ensuring more money gets shared with the domestic players, it has also meant better infrastructure at the local level for development of younger players.

1. it has given many players the financial security so they can keep playing the game they love . 2. it has allowed many player the platform to showcase their talent to more ppl. 3. it has allowed small time indian players to share dressing rooms with big names of international cricket and learn from them. ppl in this thread may think its cool to bash IPL but give it a break for the sake of those nameless domestic players who are never going to make into Indian team. this is their only chance to play at big stage with big names.

how is the financial security of domestic player who have never played in Indian team resulted in the losses of international team??
