jairamesh Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 I think after four and half seasons of IPL, fielding has vastly improved compared to the first edition. We still see some dollies dropped here and there, but overall good fielding (technically and spiritedly) has helped some team save 10-15 runs. There is still room for improvement, especially for Deccan :hehe: CSK and Kings XI have been standouts.
Mariyam Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 Good thread this. I don't know how to run those stat queries on Cricinfo or whatever website it is that you guys use. Can some one list the teams in descending order by 1) No. of run outs 2) No. of catches 3) No. of boundaries saved etc.

Can Dhoni or Ashwin even dream of such levels of flexibility?

Nah. Only Bhajji the legend can manage that.:hatsoff: Btw, Dhoni is a wicketkeeper AFAIK, how does he come in when we are talking about fielding and diving around?

If bajji is really acrobatic he can try his luck at gymnastics instead of cricket. i know ipl is all about giving chance to players to prove themselves , but to give chance to people who have other skills than cricketing skills goes on to show that MI is indeed very diverse(not with players selection , but the skills they possess apart from cricketing skills) [:P] special mention to pollard being able to do this with utmost ease and still escaping from the critics mumbai do seem to have a fielding strategy of their own what with their so called two acrobatic players diving around, when they can take the ball staying still and that gives an explanation behind hiring johnty as well [:P] and to top it all seriously this should not come from a team which has the likes of munaf patel and it is very easy to count the ones he caught than the ones he left with the likes of raina,jadeja,badri,bravo,du plessis, morkel , vijay CSK is undoubtedly the best fielding team and lets not compare this to team MI who only dive around unnecessarily.
