Pedantic observation - "back to" is not the right term. Agree Cal was the capital when East India company and later the British monarchy was ruling the land. But there was no "India" then either. Ever since "India" has been carved out we have had only one capital - New Delhi. If you want to consider the past also then, as I mentioned in a previous post, the land of Magadha specifically the city of Pataliputra was the center of Indian politics for the longest period in the last 5000 years

I know it is kind of a fun thread, but that line right there shows the evolution of modern India in many ways. You see when I was growing up if a person failed to get into an Engineering college, and by that I mean not IIT, Roorkee, ISM etc but absolutely the worst of the worst like Bhagalpur Engineering college, his parents would send him to Manipal. You may think of this as an exaggeration but people from Bihar, UP, Bengal etc would readily tell you that graduating from Manipal was considered an embarassment and often a guy would be hard pressed to even find a girl to get married. Then economy opened up and suddenly demand overran the supply of Engineering grads. Many of these colleges, and most of these were in South India, who were considered as trash were now becoming centers of recruitment. Now I am sure these institutions also did undertake a lot of good measures and today are second to none in many aspects, but its roots are laced in the whole saga I talk about. This is a good example of nothing succeeds like success. Back to capital city fight. :winky::winky: PS: Vijay is rigth it should be Patliputra :drinks::drinks:
