I distinctly remember the romantics jumping up and down over arab spring. While, I am not and was not opposed to it by any stretch, the skepticism around the event seems justified to some extent.

It's not comparable to these countries,. but still there is a lot of rights that women don't have as compared to men. Esp in rural areas. Honor killing is rampant in North India rural areas , even among Hindus. Is the religion to blame? If we had believed Manu Shastra as much, even we would have ended up like these people.
