As an opening bowler he haven't been able to pick a single wicket this year. He looks at the popping crease often when he is about to deliver the ball which is what an ordinary club bowler would do. He bowls 120+ and do you think he can get away with this pace everyday?

Look at McGrath. He bowled low 130s all his life.

He bowled low 130s all his life. McGrath clocked higher for the early part of his career, only later on he slowed down to low 130s And Shaun Pollock slowed down in later part too (I think)

That was my point. Speed is not everything. Look at someone like Shaun Tait, so much pace but not much else.

His record speaks itself. PK is nowhere close to Tait. Dont forget Mcgrath was slow but wicket taker which PK is not. This was the first match where he looked like taking wicket but he was too slow and was negotiated easily. He had slips when he bowled. Awana came bowled quicker and got the edge of kohli straight away but there was no slip for him. We may say looking at the score that awana bowled poorly, but look at when he bowled when both gayle and kohli were setteled, too many runs went through edges and top edges and if they had held on to gayle's catch of his bowling RCB would have struggeled to make 140. While awana could have had 2 wickets at not too many runs, his last analysis was 0 for 48.

You can practice bowling line and length every day and you can get away with the line and length crap in few matches. But bowling fast cannot be taught and only those who have passion for fast bowling can actually do it. Unfortunately in India we don't have many fast bowling legends who can inspire the younger generation.
