bulbul Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Yes same team against which Sehwag chased 150 runs in 16 overs without hitting 5 sixes. :winky: MEANS 32 more required in 4 overs if they had been chasing 182. Not too difficult then ehy Sehwag didnt won the match against RCB in bangalore...waiting for some others :winky:
Sehwag1830 Posted May 3, 2012 Author Posted May 3, 2012 then ehy Sehwag didnt won the match against RCB in bangalore...waiting for some others :winky: Now you are trolling. I am comparing their scoring patterns when they score big. Not when they fail. Well Sehwag massacred same bowling line up day before yesterday against which entire RCB failed http://www.espncricinfo.com/indian-premier-league-2012/engine/match/548324.html
saneindian Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Oh noes Gayle doesn't feature even once in top 28 fastest 50 scorer. Whereas Sehwag features 4 times. Talking of IPL only. http://www.itsonlycricket.com/entry/3151/ Is your entire analysis based on that list? Why a score of 50 as cut off? Increase that cut off to 26-27 balls and Gayle will be there too. Now if you say hitting a 50 in 22-23 balls is going berserk but hitting one in 26-27 balls is a different approach, problem is with your own thinking. Also are you limiting your scope to their batting just in IPL or t20s in general? Lets get that clear.

OK this is final point on this thread: If people like Gayle , Sehwag, Gilchrist start taking time for getting set what will batsmen like Dravid,Martyn , Chanderpaul do.

vvvslaxman Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Don't Jinx Viru. It is rare he is showing some consistency in this format. But Yuvraj is a bigger match winner for India. He has a strike rate on par with Viru with slightly better average.
vvvslaxman Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 unfortunately none of the last 3 names you mentioned play for :rcb: so Gayle is doing both the jobs of Dravid and Sehwag himslef Actually Dilshan did well for Challengers last time around i think or was that Delhi

bulbul Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Actually Dilshan did well for Challengers last time around i think or was that Delhi he never did well for RCB...may be its for DD not sure though, you have to ask Sehwag... its Kohli who is second highest scorer after Gayle [even AB done nothing in limited chances he got last year]

Today it was totally abysmal they ended up with a poor total like that after such a start much like Royals did yesterday.

He should try to go beserk from 3rd , 4th over itself. So that even if he gets out by say 13th , 14th over team score is around 125-130.
bulbul Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 One man Army despite having good batsmen.. Today it was totally abysmal they ended up with a poor total like that after such a start much like Royals did yesterday. yep its totally one man army so i never sure about reaching Playoffs from begining...last year he came as last minute replacement and palyed blinder after blinders when we are totally down and took us to top of the table with little help from Kohli, he got duck in final we didnt even fought... only this year AB fought back in few mathces or lese its all Gayle show...so we really not in a position to show finger @ his approach ....
Sehwag1830 Posted May 3, 2012 Author Posted May 3, 2012 Forget Sehwag, even Gambhir has shown more urgency than Gayle in first 10 overs. As a result KKR have scored 180 in both matches against RCB. Now don't tell that McMullum, Kallis , Yusuf are superior to Kohli, Deviliers. I would have never criticized Gayle if RCB bowlers couldn't defend 180 or Gayle would have been dismissed on low score.
jairamesh Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 When Sehwag gets two centuries in IPL then maybe just maybe people will believe Sehwag is right up there with Gayle. Also Gayle not only has 2 IPL 100s, but 7 t20 hundreds!, and he has an international T20 hundred, which is probably one of the hardest things to do.
CSK Fan Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Trust me he won't be embarassing as Tendulkar. I can't remember when was last time Tendulkar scored a 30 ball 50 in T20. Please don't bring expectations of billion fans excuse here. Yes IPL is the greatest level of cricket anywhere in the world and a 39 year old in his last legs should be compared with a cricketer in his prime. BTW as a 17 year old Sachin hit a 18 ball fifty against Pakistani bowlers So back to the point, I will see how and if he is able to continue with his care-free ways in test cricket when the middle order is weak. Till now he had all the freedom in the world, but now he would be both the agressive batsman and the mainstay of the team. For a long time he wouldnt be accountable for his failures but being the senior most batsman, the blame will soon fall on him when he throws his wicket away. Lets see if that changes him, sooner or later every cricketer has to either grow up and mature or fall along the side-lines
adi B Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Gayle is the best T20 batsman in the world. Period. this.
adi B Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 fact is gayle is a far superior batsman than sehwag in t20.. gayle has proved himself in t20 all around the world, he smacked most even in the big bash, sehwag just thrashes bowlers in sc conditions, pattas exclusively...talking about ipl, sehwag has been a revelation this season, gayle has been more of an acummulator , but trust me nd u, gayle will surely end up with the orange cap... anyway, just couldnt resisit myself bringing this back when i see the name of sehwag- england nd aus tour :((
sivadarsh2 Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Virender Sehwag always had one style of batting in all forms of cricket. He never restricted himself from going after bowlers that is the reason why he is so successful on cricket. He had bad times. He lost his form went out of team but never changed his attitude. He is such a brave cricketer Gayle is a big hitter of the ball.He can hit the ball to a very fair distance with his hand power and timing. But if we compare these two players with their statistics we can see that gayle is no were near Sehwag..

Sehwag1830 Posted May 3, 2012 Author Posted May 3, 2012 If Sehwag plays like this against OZ and ENG this year , we will become no.1 again in test.Just like VIRU took us to no.1 in 2009 by smashing Srilanka, South Africa
