We are now well into the second half of IPL V, so which under-21 has caught your eyes?, here were cricinfo prediction's at the beginning of IPL 2012: Source: http://www.espncricinfo.com/indian-premier-league-2012/content/story/559781.html Suryakumar Yadav (Mumbai Indians) PL: 1, Runs: 0, Batting Aver: 0 One player who could look completely at ease in this format is Mumbai's Suryakumar Yadav... Mandeep Singh (Kings XI Punjab) PL: 11, Runs: 284, Batting Aver: 26 With just a couple of first-class seasons behind him, Punjab batsman Mandeep Singh has already become a highly-rated name in domestic circles.... Robin Bist (Delhi Daredevils) PL: 0 A good batsman is said to be capable of adapting to all three formats successfully... Harshal Patel (Royal Challengers Bangalore) PL: 7, Wkts: 5, Bwl Aver: 39, Econ:9.33 Rarely does a fast bowler take an eight-for in the batsman-dominated Ranji Trophy... Shami Ahmed (Kolkata Knight Riders) PL: 0 Had Abu Nechim not pulled out of the Duleep Trophy final with an injury, Shami Ahmed would not have got the opportunity to showcase his talent in an important match... Verdict: Overall only two players from the list got opportunities to showcase their talents. Mandeep Singh has been the most impressive of the two. He is the leading run scorer for Kings XI and played an instrumental role as an opener in their recent run of four wins on the trot. Though I feel he has the shots but lacks the power, he is basically a "Kohli Lite" version. Harshal Patel has bowled decent in patches, but his stats leave a lot to be desired. But in his defence none of the RCB quicks have covered themselves in glory with Vinay Kumar's Econ at 9, Zaheer's at 8, whilst Arvind had forgetful solitary game conceding 48 runs in 3 overs!. Though still feel with Harshal's bowling action he can add a few more clicks to his speed and be more lethal with his swing (didn't see much of that in his 7 games despite his reputation). Disappointing not to see more of Suryakumar and Shami Ahmed. Other under-21 who have caught my eyes: VP Singh, Ankit Sharma, Menaria, As of 6th May 2012. The Slingers: Veer Pratap Singh (DC) PL: 5, Wkts: 5, Bwl Aver: 32, Econ:8.42 Ankit Sharma (DC) PL: 8, Wkts: 4, Bwl Aver: 37, Econ:6.43 Blasters: Manyank Agarwal (RC) PL: 9, Runs: 142, Btg Aver: 16, SR: 118, HS: 45 Menaria (RR) PL: 8, Runs: 155, Btg Aver: 19, SR: 112, HS: 40 Jack of all Trades B'hwar Kumar(PW) PL: 7, Wkts: 6, Bwl Aver: 28, Econ:7|Runs: 32, Btg Aver: 32, SR: 128, HS: 11 n/o Anyone else under-21 who has caught your eye????

Mandeep has done well and he looks to have range of shots, has good back foot shots as well, very rare of young Indian batsmen. Patel has been average. I wanted him to swing the ball but I have not seen any swing from him yet. Has shown some variations of slow balls, but lacked pace and yorker. VP Singh has been more impressive for a 19 year old with strong action and decent pace. He has bowled in PPs and at death as well and has done well quite a few times, has shown he an bowl yorker as well, has seamed the ball both ways too in helpful tracks, though still has a long way to go and lot to learn regarding length and consistency. Ashok Menaria has not lived up to the hype created by Akash Chopra, can hit the ball against spinners but struggles against quicks, especially short ball, does not have enough power yet, tough he is still very young, but has a lot of scope of improvement in overall range of shots. Ankit Sharma looked the best Indian spinner this IPL. Traditional side on action, gives flight and loop and can turn the ball as well, deceive the batsmen in flight and pace variations.

Mayank Agarwal looked good in patches.
He dont have fixed batting position...too much experimentation... He handled Ashwin well

Mandeep played well in only 2/3 matches..not consistant..
Got a start in almost every game. Then most of the times in urgency to slog he lost his wicket. Not a T20 expert but his game is suited for longer format IMO.
