MCcricket Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Sting operation reveals spot fixing in IPL: Reports Bangalore, Mon, May 14 2012 Shalabh Srivastava openly discussed changing IPL teams and wanted a payment of 70 Lakh to play for K [Ž© AFP] India TV, a television News channel, has claimed that they have footage of many IPL players confessing to receiving more than their auction amount as black money. They also have claimed that there are often deals among players, owners and the organizers to fix matches. India TV has apparently carried out a sting operation talking to local players like Shalabh Srivastava, T P Sudhindra and Mohnish Mishra and have found out that local players openly negotiate with other teams to get a better package. It has also been reported that these players asked the undercover India TV reporter for money to bowl no-balls or make any team changes in not only IPL matches but also in first class games. The sting has also brought to light an international player, who is also captaining an IPL side, being involved in fixing matches. The sting claims that Sudhindra asked for 60 Lakh to make any team changes in his domestic side while Shalabh Srivatsava asked for Rs 10 Lakh to bowl 1 no-ball in the IPL. Mohnish Mishra had told them that he was earning 1.45 crore with the Deccan Chargers. According to the BCCI guidelines, he can not earn more than 30 Lakh as he is an uncapped player, but Mishra apparently confessed that he gets 1 crore in black money. The News channel also showed a video in which their reporter was shown talking to Srivatsava. The Kings XI Punjab player openly discussed changing IPL teams and wanted a payment of 70 Lakh to play for the Kolkata Knight Riders. Ž© Cricbuzz (with inputs from agencies) :omg:
MCcricket Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 MODS PLEASE FIX THE TITLE . If this is really happening then it is disgraceful, with so much money involved , maybe a possibility .BCCI has announced domestic cricket will be monitored thru a anti corruption body and maybe they know a bit then we do. S Srivastave has not played in this IPL, all the players mentioned have played ICL.
Roshanrocks Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 The sting has also brought to light an international player, who is also captaining an IPL side, being involved in fixing matches. :hmmm: Vettoti, Sanga?
ganeshran Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Lets see the footage and the proof. India TV has a history of inventing news and sensationalism.
Sachin=GOD Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 I wouldn't be surprised if its happening in the Tamasha.
1983-2011 Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Video avalible on below link http://www.indiatvnews.com/live-video/India-TV-sting-reveals-spot-fixing-and-black-money-in-IPL-5232.59.html it'd be naive to think that some players are only paid what we see in the auction list, offcourse they are paid more under the table especially good uncapped indian players like trivedi, rahane etc... and big players that were retained like dhoni, sachin, bhajji etc...
1983-2011 Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 India TV :hehe: NOTW was something that was also laughed at in UK http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/News_of_the_World#Controversies
ganeshran Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Players being paid in black sounds very much plausible and its upto the IPL governing council to take action on it. Personally, I couldnt care less if an artificial payment limit is being breached. However, The serious allegations are the ones of no balls and match fixing - these are what should be promptly investigated and if someone is found guilty, then he should be punished.
Crookbond Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Video avalible on below link http://www.indiatvnews.com/live-video/India-TV-sting-reveals-spot-fixing-and-black-money-in-IPL-5232.59.html it'd be naive to think that some players are only paid what we see in the auction list, offcourse they are paid more under the table especially good uncapped indian players like trivedi, rahane etc... and big players that were retained like dhoni, sachin, bhajji etc... This. One just has to look at the cases of Manish Pandey and Ravindra Jadeja.
1983-2011 Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 the teams that retained players in after 3 years has they budget capped for the auction. lets take the case of Chennai who retained 4 players so their purse was halved because 1st player was supposed to get paid 1.8 mill while the fourth player supposedly got 0.5 mill. do u really think dhoni is only getting paid 1.8 mill while the likes of pathan, uthappa, gambhir are making more than him.

The rule is that 1.8 million will be cut from the salary purse. It doesnt say that only 1.8 million can be paid to the player . He can be paid as much as the franchisees can afford and that amount is not disclosed to the general public.

OK, I always thought that what they got paid, so dhoni and sachin are probably raking in 3-4 mill due to their image

That is in the rulebook.
Sachin=GOD Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 NOTW was something that was also laughed at in UK http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/News_of_the_World#Controversies precisely my thoughts. People laugh at Newspapers/channels like these and at first don't take the news seriously but later on these stings turn out to be true. As for these allegations - people have been saying for a long time that IPL is full of shady deals that have been going on since the 1st season.
ganeshran Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 OK' date=' I always thought that what they got paid, so dhoni and sachin are probably raking in 3-4 mill due to their image[/quote'] Ya the rule is unfair but they are not breaking it. The one which is being broken is most probably paying the domestic players and also the amount promised in the auction for some players. There is no way Gayle plays for 500K odd while no name players are making much more than that.
Precambrian Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Spot fixing thing must be investigated... Not really concerned about black money blah blah...
