Here are some things that have happened since his elevation as the Campaign Chief: 1. increased polarization of Muslims leading to increased communal tension. Modi may not have given any speeches but the mere fact that he may become the BJP's leader has been more than enough to create fear in the minds of many people. 2. JDU breaking its 17 years old relationship with BJP. 3. Going back to the Ram Mandir agenda (first Amit Shah talked about that and now today RSS's spokesperson confirmed that these issues were discussed in BJP/RSS meeting and are expected to be adopted by the BJP). 4. Very, very high interference of the RSS in BJP's affairs. 5. No hope of attracting any pre-poll allies despite the fact that BJP, more than the Cong, desperately needs them.

In fact, even at the short listing stage, when more than a dozen agencies were vying for the Rs.500-crore contract, they had all been told to come up with an effective ad campaign to counter Modi and the claims that he makes about development of Gujarat. JWT has been involved with handling Congress campaigns earlier too, in 2009 Lok Sabha and also Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in 2011. In the coming elections, while JWT will be responsible for the creative aspect, IPAN (Hill and Knowlton) will look after the publicity. Both JWT and IPAN had worked together on the campaign which finally won the Congress contract. In the run up to their finally winning the contract, the agencies had worked hard researching on Modi and Gujarat. A team of over 20 professionals would have long brain-storming sessions everyday where they would pore over all of Modi's speeches to look for loopholes. They thoroughly researched data on Gujarat to verify if Modi's claims about development, economic progress and social parameters were authentic. Sources claim that the JWT and IPAN teams have already started briefing Congress' media in charge Ajay Maken on a daily basis. He is using the information provided by them to brief the Congress spokespersons in turn. Muslims in UP have been at loggerheads with Dalits/Yadavs since Akhilesh Yadav became CM, primarily because they have been given a free run with the police looking the othjer way as SP goes all out to woo UP's largest vote bank 2. Jo hua accha hua 3. Was talked about in 2004, 2009, UP 2012 asembly elections, so dont see anything new there. As long as its not a central theme of the agenda, should not be a problem 4. Has been happening for a long time now ever since Advani was forced to step down on the Jinnah issue 5. Could not attract anyone in 2009 anyone either, lost BJD. In any case, elections are still some months away. Too early to talk of pre poll allies. Plus the focus of the party is to cross 180+ first , post poll scenario is not their priority which is good in a way. If the current NDA (BJP, SS, SAD, HJC+ some other smaller parties) crosses 200+ on its own, rest of the numbers will come with or without Modi. However if the NDA is limited to 175 with BJP at around 150-155 (likely scenario with Advani/Sushma/Any other PM candidate), it will have ZERO chance of forming the next govt.

Add the spend on securing the tickets. Was talking to one of Delhi's municipal Councillor and he said even for MCD elections candidates are asked to make bid with the top bids crossing a crore. If for MCD elections, tickets get sold for a crore, for LS polls, the number would at least be 10 times.

If for MCD elections, tickets get sold for a crore, for LS polls, the number would at least be 10 times. about 540 seats & even if the avg spending in each constituency is 20 crores, it should cross 12000 crores easily..

Umm no, just showing you Modi or no Modi, communal incidences are a reality in India.They have been there for a long long time, long before Modi came, 2002 happened or Ayodhya happened. Obviously the easier option is to blame everything on Modi/2002/RJB while forgetting that even before that India used to see a major riot every decade.

Not sure about how good Markov will feel but what that chart does is to show you the reality that Modi or no Modi, communal incidents will continue to happen, as they have in the past.

Haan toh bhaiyya who disputed that part? The chart however doesn't show that the Muzaffarnagar riots weren't caused due to the presence of sabka bhai Amit Shah in UP. You can't categorically deny that their presence/policies/statements did not have any effect.

You can't categorically deny that their presence/policies/statements did not have any effect. Yeah but you can very conveniently accuse them of fanning the violence. Absolutely love that logic. Will not talk about the Muzaafarnagar riots , gave a sequence of incidents based on local newspaper clippings in the thread on that in Chit Chat.
